quebecelegy Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 i mean, i watch the mexican ones that come out at night, and sometimes columbian ones, but i stream those cause the good ones came out a while ago. but daytime soap operas are unbearbly boring. i dont know anyone who watches these.
bnmjy Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 They seem to be primarily used for background noise in nursing homes. Quite a shame that the genre isn't popular in younger people like in other countries, but oh well.
André Toulon Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I don't even know any old people that still watch them. I'll be honest, I figured daytime TV was all infomercials and game shows now.
StarPanda Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 When I was a kid and was super bored o would tune in and chek those out they sucked, the Spanish ones were good they have some fine women

Quite a shame that the genre isn't popular in younger people like in other countries, but oh well. I haven't seen a soap opera since Mary Hartman was a thing. And even back then, it was just filler between Monty Python and Dark Shadows. I was usually in the kitchen getting snacks when the show was on. My grandmother on the other hand... she'd go absolutely ape shit if she missed one ep of General Hospital.

Do you live in a nursing home? Makes a lot of sense.
1938 Packard Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Do you live in a nursing home? Makes a lot of sense. Nope. Can't get me into one of those. My grandmother's sister lived in one. I don't know how she could stand it. They wouldn't even let her keep an electric percolator. More fucken rules and regulations than a damned prison house and she had to share a room with somebody who snored. It must be Hell to live past eighty and have everybody treat you like you're six.
new_disease Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I used to watch the ones that would come on this one Korean (i think) channel didn't understand anything that was going on but one of the actresses was pretty hot
Naraku4656 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 i used to watch spanish soap operas with an ex girlfriend of mine. neither of us could speak spanish, but both of us liked the stupidity
Distortedreasoning Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 nope. never watched the spanish ones either except for when i glance at some of the super hot bitches or some of the steamy sex scenes involving them.

The Spanish channels are almost always on down at the laundromat. That's why I bring a radio, to hear somebody speaking English instead of all "Yamala yamala yamala el con queso de bistek yamala gringos exterminados..." I hear enough of that work. I don't need it on my days off.
NaBarney Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I've heard that people in jail watch them intensely, there's no debate about what's going to be on the tv all day, the consensus is soap operas

DragonSinger Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 I used to when I was a kid. I started off with The Young and The Restless, moved on to Days of Ours Lives which went into the crapper with a demon possession storyline, and then I got into Sunset Beach. When SB got cancelled, I just wasn't into searching for another soap opera to watch since I had money to buy better shows on dvd to watch during the day, and this was around the time that Boomerang came out along with more channels doing daytime marathons of shows they had the rights to.
NaBarney Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 What was the vampire one? I watched that one a lot during one summer vacation. Port Charlotte?
NaBarney Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Found it https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Charles Pretty sure it was called "Port Charles: Desire" though
Top Gun Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 My mom used to watch all of the CBS lineup (Bold and the Beautiful, Young and the Restless, As the World Turns, Guiding Light) when she was stay-at-home and raising us. Hell, I got to know a bunch of the prominent characters by proxy. Would go gay for Victor Newman.

I can't remember crushing on him(I did on Nick and Shemar Moore's character), but I do remember him looking cool in fight scenes.
