katt_goddess Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Maybe it'll hit that flying tesla. That thing going off might be just enough to deflect it straight at FlacidLand. 4 Quote
Dark_Cloud_Overhead Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Wait, only a 2.3% chance it'll hit, and even if if does not until 2032? Plus, it's not even a planet killer? Pffft. Great, now I gotta return all the end of the world party supplies I went and rushed out to buy. The way things are going, it's almost certain we'll all have done ourselves in before then anyway. SwimOdin Posted February 16 Posted February 16 A 2% chance is actually extremely high on a solar system level, but the most likely area of impact would be near the equator between India and South America. Why? While gravity is technically weaker there, the Earth bulges equatorially and a plurality of the planet is the Pacific Ocean. So while even if there was an impact, and there could and would be catastrophically large tsunami as a result, the loss of life on a human scale would not be significant. 3 Quote
Sieg67 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Lucifer's Hammer: "1 in a million chance." "1 in a thousand." "1 in 100." "....Oh no" Paraphrasing but yeah. 1 Quote

rpgamer Posted yesterday at 06:29 AM Posted yesterday at 06:29 AM Got to thinking a dumb thought about this. What if they knew from the start that chances were nil, but used this as a test to gauge public reaction? Cuz, there's always that wonder of whether we'll actually get any proper warning when the big one is actually on the way... And then I thought... Wait! We need to do this all over again. But get everyone in on it. And keep it up. At least until Musk and crew are all aboard the rocket to Mars. At which point they can finally announce "the threat has passed." And maybe just nuke Mars for good measure. 1 Quote
