Eeehhhh?

I hope not, because Fire Force is not on Soul Eater's level, even if the same guy made it.

Not on the same level, but I think it got better as it went and I still mostly enjoyed it.

Might have been a better show if they'd somehow extended those first couple of arcs to better flow into each other and let us get more footing.

I've always been curious if the manga was as jumpy at the beginning.

Yeah, he'd fit well.

Loved Soul Eater, still hoping we get a remake someday, would love to see that story animated again.

Spoiler

It was revealed in the final chapters of the fire force manga, that it was a prequel to soul eater all along,as the fire force manga  had showcase   never before seen panels of  younger versions for kid, maka, black star themselves.(not even these specific panels were seen in the soul eater manga)

So fire force anime only viewers could potentially see maka, kid, and black star back on the tv screen again if a anime studio ends up faithfully animating the very last chapter of the fire force manga

Which could help  finally encouraging a anime studio to finally animating the entirety of the soul eater manga for once.

Big spoilers incoming!

Well the beginning was jumpy and had odd and too fast pacing for those arcs.  Then it evened out and got pretty good.

But eventually Fire Force just got ridiculous, with those super speed powers the main character and his brother had and their explanations, and that one girl HEALING with fire was just silly.

Still, might as well animate the rest of it to see how it all ends.

Yeah I am curious how the manga was on that too.  I don't recall anyone bringing up any manga comparisons for pacing when the show aired.

Yeah. Maybe they got more impact from having the double premiere, even if it meant burning through them faster?

I guess it seems purposeful they changed to this rerun the previous ep plus new ep on just these last three?

Yeah I think you're right, but opening the block with a rerun seems a little shortsighted. I actually didnt mind in this case cuz i really like these episodes.

Yeah I agree, especially since there didn't really seem to be any pressing need to go through them so fast, leading to the need to do this.

Same, these were good eps so I don't mind it myself either.

Yeah it's definitely a mysterious decision and it sounds like nothing new is in the pipeline. Could have pushed premieres out a few more weeks.

Oh that's neat. Hopefully we get to see that if they keep adapting the rest of Fire Force.

Yeah, that would be great if it could finally lead to the production of a Soul Eater "Brotherhood".

And if it were BONES again somehow, like with Brotherhood, I'm dying to see what they could pull off again after all these years with how stylish their first Soul Eater already was thanks to the look of the manga and team they put together way back in 2008, if they got together the right team again for a remake, like they managed to do for Brotherhood, given the first FMA already looked quite good but then Brotherhood still upped it considerably with another team that also fit the material well.

So with the rerun episode and new episodes being used together now, I don't think it's going to be the same amount of time as if they never doubled anything, but that would be hilarious.

I assumed they wanted to hurry up and get Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, and maybe they can do a solid dub run through to the second cour, but this is still taking too long to get that far ahead of the second cour.

I have no idea what Toonami is thinking with any of this anymore.

Yeah, that's why I'm still a little surprised they didn't milk the MHA premieres for more weeks instead of doubling them up the last few weeks. Unless they performed stronger that way, even at the cost of going through them quicker.

So uh, how is it a prequel? Does the world get destroyed and remade at the end of the manga or something??

A lot of people complain about the fan service in FF but I mean, I am all about it lmao

Despite your feelings on it, I love how the

Tamaki fan service gag was actually turned around into both character growth and the author yelling at prudes.  That’s a surprising amount of nuance from when the gag was introduced.

As for this arc, it’s clear that they’re hurrying towards the final arc, which is admittedly one of the issues with a tight serialized story vs an ongoing one.  Bad publicity on a longer story would have had Deku out on his own longer and presumably an online Jameson slandering the terror hero Black Whip as…

Here the cast decides that’s BS and deals with the issue immediately and the mother embracing the little guy is surprisingly heartwarming.

I’m admittedly not a fan of “we are the greatest hero” because they pulled a similar line in The Flash when that show plummeted in quality.

Despite his arc being closer to Superman’s as being this iconic symbol, Deku’s personality, power-set, and even publicity echo Spider-Man and I’ll always wonder if it feels like the author has to pull himself back from making the Spidey parallels too obvious.

Tamaki. And man O man it's like Sword Art online, finding pics of her that aren't porn is a struggle.
