Ugh, the French horn.  My band instructor tricked me into playing that.  I was in jr high and as we were trying instruments, every time she got to me she was like "blow"...No other instructions.  When we got to the French horn, suddenly she was like "hold your lips like this, and press this and blah blah"....Anyway, it actually made a sound and she was like "yeah, that's how....You should play this"

Lamest instrument ever and the case was so big and I had to carry that shit around and get on the bus with it......I just got in choir the next year.  I was a bass, so none of that falsetto bullshit like with tenors and there was so many more girls....Great choice

I would have never figured you for a french horn player.  Definitely a trumpet, or God forbid, maybe one of the chiller trombones.  The horns are like the wrong kind of a special breed.

At least she didn't try to make you play the tuba.

As I got independent guitar lessons in junior high and high school, various people encouraged me to try out for jazz band at our high school so I could play guitar with them. I declined because I was too worried that playing guitar would seem more like "work" and less like "fun." My independent instructor was teaching me Sabbath, Metallica, Hendrix, Zeppelin, AC/DC, teaching me scales that I applied to writing my own shit.... What was jazz band gonna teach me that I might actually have fun with, you know? Although the other rock/metal guitar kids in jazz band liked it, but... I dunno... I didn't want to risk guitar becoming an obligation rather than something I loved to do.
