Sandboxes are the stupidest piece of playground equipment.

Sand is not fun, it's coarse and gritty and it gets into everything.

Sand isn't fun when you're a grown-up and you have to clean it. Kids don't have to clean up sand. They just get to play in it, and then track a bunch of it home in various orifices for YOU to clean up, old man!

Stepping on sand is painful; I can't be alone in thinking that.

Now, are we talking sand? Or are we talking gravel? Because fuck gravel.

Sand is great to step on. Or step in, as it were. Especially when it's warm, almost too hot but still okay, and you just sink your lil tootsies in... It's awesome. Almost awesome enough for me to go to the beach. But fuck sharks. Thankfully the local water park has a sandy area.

This, so much this.

Sponges has mentioned before that a car hit him and it affected his memory. I am thinking it wiped out all of his memories of childhood joy.

Its just sand in a box.

Yay sand.

I could throw a few boards together around a patch of grass, now I've got a grass box.

It would probably be more fun.

Heck, the whole playground is a giant wood-chip box  with all the other stuff inside it.

Those things are glorified litter boxes...every cat in the neighborhood is leaving turds in there.

Sand is painful- when you're walking on the beach, it's uneven and often, raised parts will causes differences in pressure on your feet.

Dude, WALKING in the sand isn't considered fun. PLAYING in the sand is different. And you wouldn't be walking in the sandbox for fun either. God damn you would be turning around every split second.

On its own, sand isn't fun.  Throw in some army soldiers or construction vehicle toys, etc. and, unless the kids have been sucked dry of any imagination, fun will ensue.

It's really interesting to me that you made this thread today, when my sister brought over materials for a makeshift sandbox for my nephew, literally today. I didn't piece that together until just now.

Stop hanging out in my bushes, Sponges. My life is not fodder for your damn threads! :RoboS:

Actually.....that would be called a "planter" or "garden", technically.

why would you want you garden or planter to have grass in it? its going to steal the water and nutrients from the good plants.

So it'll stunt a little and not be so obvious to the pot copters.
