ugh. i hate when i do that shit. 

i usually will call the store, and let them know. 

and since i frequent this store, i can usually take my receipt, with whomever i spoke with, info. and they'll just give me my product. 

it's a little harder with store in the next town, but again, i just call and jot down the name and hold onto my receipt.

most stores will hold left products for a specific amount of time or at least make record of it so that they can do this.

its fine and worth a try. we sometimes get calls a week later, if you still have an itemized receipt, have rough time date and register it happened at, or if they even just have the recollection of the item being left, they will honor it.
