NaBarney Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 I just tell customers to have a good Christmas, as little deviation as possible from my standard "have a good" day/night/one

It's not the safest way to play it with the old middle class white people I deal with because some of them get fucking upset if you don't say the word Christmas to them in December. Sometimes they just counter with an overly emphasized "you too, AND HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AS WELL AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR" but I've had people ask me before if the reason I didn't wish them a merry Christmas is because my workplace has some anti-Christmas policy against it, and happy holidays is a no go because that triggers some people into making a point about how Christmas is the holiday they celebrate.

I mean 98% of them are fine but that memorably bad 2% compel me to say the c word. The person who asked if I was allowed to say Christmas at work went on to explain they were wondering if the owner was an Indian guy. So now I just placate these extremely reactionary people
