She flat out said that she didn't want to pay to get in, so she left.

They are issued by the County government, usually for the elderly or handicapped people who can't drive. I don't know whether her's was scanned.

Standardizing a process, like carding in this example, is the safest and most responsible way to be sure everyone stays safe and that the establishment doesn't allow someone that shouldn't be there.... if you have an issue with it, stay home... But, if you card EVERYONE then nobody should ever feel offended, it's their policy.

The only reason they picked on her was her makeup and choice of wardrobe. i get carded all the time. i giggle..or shrug it off. the ONLY time i was offended was last week at evil mart. i had my daughter, and i was buying a 6 pack, the dingbat wasn't going to sell it to me, because she assumed i was buying it for my daughter..because she couldn't discern that i was a mum with her kid grocery shopping. other than that...it's really not that big a deal. my cousin's mum got carded a couple weeks ago. she's 89. she was a little peeved, more confused, but totally flattered. tl:dr ~ get over it dude.

No, they picked on her because she didn't have what is usually considered valid ID, and they were attempting to work with her to remedy the situation when her "window of opportunity closed" (her friend who was going to sleaze her in free went off shift), and she didn't want to pay to get in, so she left too. And get over yourself - I get proofed all the time. I can't buy smokes or cartridges at the drug store or beer at the grocery store without having my license scanned, because the registers are programmed not to complete the transaction until proof of age is presented. And I'm probably just about your age - I may actually be a couple of years older.

I need a quick pick-me-up without going to the bookstore, I can always go and pick up a can of aerosol whipped cream for my coffee - instant card alert at the register. And it's expected for any number of items that have age requirements [ex. in North Dakota, you technically have to be 18+ to buy spray paint and I believe the minimum age for rocket engines is 14 or 16] .

You don't have to be 21 to disco dance. Getting served alcohol or gambling require a minimum age. So, the red carding isn't likely to take place unless the younger dancers are boozers too.
