The dream I just had was so badass......I was an assassin....Or..something.  I was killing motherfuckers but I have no idea why.  I jumped from a helicopter, and CQC'd some guys, and hid in an elevator shaft....That was full of birthday cake.  Someone heard me eating the cake so I hid, and snapped his neck when he came into the shaft.

Then I ran up the wall to the next level and got out, dodging gun fire and snapping bones like Tony Jaa.  Then some inconsequential shit happened and I was suddenly in a dream about my one of my exes.

Anyway, I wanna upload that shit to Youtube.  But I'm saying this while I'm still excited about the dream.....If history teaches me anything, I'll keep thinking about it and realize how retarded it was.

Thats probably a dream of good fortune but im too lazy to look it up.

I always have incest dreams when im losing a job so its been nothing but incest dreams for many nights.

Tonight deja and erin were like..poor..and erin goes to her trailer...talks to her dad and comes back and is like "deja, I'm getting you the fuck outta here". Turns out her father broke the lock to her room so he and his friends can "visit" her at night. Wtf right?

Oh, and while I'm on the subject of dreams, I can't get contol of my semi lucid dreams anymore and go full lucy.  I think it has to do with this insomnia medicine they gave me.  Like night before last, I was fully aware that I was in a dream, and I tried to manipulate the environment but I couldn't "get ahold of it"

So I tried the next thing that I do, which is try run really fast, but despite my ability to control myself, my subconscious kept putting up wall to block me.

I was going lucid every night a few months ago.....Maybe because I had the house to myself most of the Summer, but now I can barely keep control of my actions without shattering the dream altogether

ok. this is really weird. i had a dream that i was being chased for finding a suitcase. the case had 5 locks. and i was able to open all of them

in this dream, (2nd part of a weird dream where i was a rogue doctor on the run.) i was just a person.

but the minute i opened them, i became this spy type person. so, i was running and dodging the chasers.

i too was able to jump and do amazing things to escape. i finally ended up in a room. but, i was waking up in this room. like a hotel room.

i was plugging in what i thought was phone charger. i remember looking at this 'phone charger' and thinking that's odd looking. the minute i plugged it in

2 men came barging in my room. i had to escape again. i was running all around the hotel and made it to a room that looked like a typical teenage boy room. clothes all over the place

there were 2 boys playing a video game, i dove under a pile of clothes and shoes, and got dressed in those clothes. then, someone came to the door, his mum i think, leaning at the bottom

of the door to sniff out 'perfume' i jumped through the window...then woke up.

i just thought it was weird. i didn't see the man chasing me  :o

maybe...it was you! you wanted to snap my neck for opening the suitcase.  :(

You know, I've had this idea before that if someone you know is in you dream, maybe they are having the same dream from their perspective......Did I mention I get burnt a lot.

so i took a nap. the dream was i moved to a new house..but they were like town houses. and everyone was following me around,

wanting..almost needing to be around me. constantly. neighbors coming to me and asking me for advice.

there was a party. and..the way the houses were set up, i had to move rogues jeep because he told me to drive it forever  ::spin::

and there was a young man, that wouldn't stop following me around, well, some other man was talking with me, and the first man got jealous and ran off.

kids following me around asking me to play, or make something..like a couch fort? it was ....weird.

Minus the new house, and Rogue's jeep this was my entire waking day, and it is not over.  I was supposed to do inventory today but my kids didn't have school so I'ma do it tonight.....That means I had a house full of kids and we did indeed build something like a couch fort.....Closer to a clusterfuck.  The kid's channel has been updated so you can indeed see the results.

I'm soooooo sleepy but we still gotta hit the field today.

I have a lot of Inception-type dreams where I "wake up" but I'm actually still asleep. I'm okay when I actually wake up, but I feel like I'm losing my mind in the dream.

i hate waking from a dream, that i wanted to keep going on, just to find out what happened. sometimes i can go right back to sleep, and pick up

where i left off, but i can tell, even in dream state...it's not quite the way it should have gone.

Yeah, I've heard that as long as you don't turn over or open your eyes that it's easier to continue, but I don't know how scientific that is.

  • 2 years later...

Last night's dream made me realize something about myself....I'm not scared of heights....I'm scared of coming down from heights.  I got stuck on a mountain somehow, and as i was trying to descend, I all of a sudden had the most crippling anxiety.  Somehow along the way, i wound up in a car, and was driving down....But I was so unnerved and the car's brakes barely worked, so i finally gave up, drove off the cliff, and woke up in a panic.

I'm am about 99.9% sure I have never tried to just kill myself in a dream before.

Jesus, now you're having my anxiety dreams!  Usually they were driving up vertical hills, but sometimes it was down them.  I always woke up from those in terror, sometimes in tears.  Haven't had one for a long time though.  I don't think I care enough about anything to feel anxious anymore.

I don't know which came first - real life fear of driving on steep hills leading to the dreams, or the dreams making real life hills freak me out so much more.  I can't drive in S.F., and sometimes even walking I run into one of those cross streets with stairs instead of sidewalks, and it totally triggers me.  Yet I love being in the mountains and climbing shit.  It's not the heights or even the steepness, it's the vehicular component I think.  You can't grab a vertical hillside with tires like you can with hands.

I grew up in a hilly rural area, and you couldn't have paid me enough to drive the school bus.  It was like a daily exercise in cheating death.  No less than 4 points at which the bus had to back into driveways to turn around, on one-lane roads on blind hillsides.  Icy winter fun!!

Not sure where it started with me....I fly often, and worked on 30 story + roofs, and even camped in the mountains with my sister....The thing is, in none of the places have I been responsible for getting myself down.  There is always an interior road not overlooking the cliffs, an elevator, or someone else landing the plane.

If left to my own devices, I would have to actually concentrate while combating the fear.

You know what's "fun" in San Francisco? When there's a stop sign at the top of a hill, so when you take your foot off the break to transition to the gas pedal when it's your turn to cross the intersection, your car starts rolling backwards down the hill for a couple seconds.

Is there some strategy to this I don't know about?

Sounds like you're dealing with something that you feel you have little control over.  It doesn't mean you won't eventually it just means your brain is working it out right now.

Other than your wife finding out you want to have sex with MLP characters, I doubt there's too much that a dream can tell you that is not up for interpretation. So not sure what you could mean.

It's not bad if you have an automatic, which most cars now do (just brake with your left foot), but with a stick, that's a nightmare. And god forbid your car stalls out there.  My strategy was to put on the parking brake at less than full blast and gun it forward while fighting the brake.  Negotiating a turn along with finessing the gas, clutch and handbrake was even more fun.  Didn't Subaru once advertise their "hill grabbing" transmissions or something?

Ugh. I have an automatic and none of that sounds fun. I'd have to try it the next time I get in my car, but I can't imagine being able to work the brake pedal with my left foot because of the steering wheel being in the way.

I gotta say - there's nothing worse than finding a surprise hill to go up and down.  Even us natives don't really think of LA as being built on hills, but it is.  Some of the hills behind downtown and adjacent to the ravine (where Dodger Stadium is) are steep as hell.  My gf used to live on one of those streets where it starts out with a mild incline, then, at the very end where the road ends in a T intersection, it's suddenly a 20% uphill.  Some of the back streets in Silver Lake and Chinatown are worse than anything you'ld ever see SF, including Lombard.

Lombard's got an undeserved rep.  The hillside it's built on is crazy steep, sure, but the switchback they made to get up it is pretty benign, incline-wise.

L.A.'s got all those sneaky canyons around the bowl. :D  Even here, past the far east side (Old Folsom, near the dam and the prison), you get a few surprise roller coaster roads, where the last dribbles of the foothills peter out before they give way to lakebed flats.

Well, this has taken a wild shift, but now I'm wondering....These steep roads, I get how the work going up, but if you go down them, isn't there a chance of hydroplaning and just becoming airborne.

WHen I was in the cali mountains with my sis, I saw the road went in circles for a gradual slope, but these roads sound like just steep ass straightaways.

Bowl as in the Rose Bowl?  Some of the nastiest inclines are in and around the Arroyo.

Urban hills are crazy like that.  Driving around the Sierras, the switchbacks are nasty, but it takes a lot of the white knuckles out of the elevation changes.  When you build your city on a bunch of hills, there usually isn't the space to switchback the streets like Lombard.  Some of the places in and around DTLA have some crazy drops on straightaways with fucking houses at the bottom.  The only reason you don't hear of more drunk drivers ending up in people's bedrooms is because most of these streets are also too narrow to speed down.

In S.F., they are, except for the cross streets, which tend to be flat.  Go watch Bullitt. :D

Nah, I just meant in general.  It's not like a perfect bowl shape, but the whole area is hemmed in by mountains on all sides but the ocean.  Some are big mountains, like the San Gabriel Mts., some not so big, like the Santa Ana Mts.  Heh, if not for the latter sticking its finger all up in the O.C. and R.C., it practically would be a nice bowl shape.  Since mountains don't usually pop up cleanly vertical from the ground, and water does what it wants, at the edges of those ranges, you can be driving along minding your own business and suddenly run into surprise dips and hills where you would otherwise expect relative flatness.  That's what I meant.

So that gif in your sig --  the bird is never in the cage - is that because missing frames or he's supposed to be inept at twirling it?  Dunno what it's from, so I can't tell.  Either way, I want to smack it out of his hands.  :)

Never heard the basin called a bowl before, but I can see it.

I believe in that particular scene, Ichibod, is ruminating over something Kathrina said about him being less than a man as he leaves Sleepy Hollow.  The toy is something he used to impress her and the visual is probably Tim Burton’s way of conveying Ichibod’s anguish over him (the cage) shirking his desire to protect Kathrina (the bird).  It’s also an analogy for how technology is inherently flawed and, in turn exposed his own broken nature.

You most likely want to smack it out of his hand because Ichibod Crane is kind of a crybaby.
