  1. I was gonna say… Frontier has a junction box at the end of my property, so I can literally see the fiber line from the junction box all the way to my modem. Not only that, the Frontier facility is less than a mile away. If I have an outage they don’t know about, it’s pretty easy for me to walk the 1000 steps to see where the incursion is. That being said, it’s not like there’s much you can do if you want to change providers. There’s really only two providers with infrastructure here: either it’s through cable tv and Spectrum or it’s fiber from Frontier. Everyone else would piggyback on them.
  2. Are you on fiber? I think you've said before that you were. As much trouble as you've had for months now, the only possible explanation is that there's a break in the line somewhere.
  3. Leftover Giant Burrito from El Tecolate.
  4. Oh well.
  5. Any cute new coworkers?
  6. You probably don't have to even do that - some cats are social creatures and will be affectionate with anyone at anytime just because. If she starts showing up regularly, begging for food, she might be lost.
  7. This, seriously. She may be an abandoned pet or at least been in close proximity to humans for a long time.
  8. I don't like Daffy Duck. When he was first introduced, he was a court jester type character that served as a foil for the likes of Fudd and Porky; he was a deliberate rebuttal to Disney's Donald, but he was unique enough to at least be somewhat innocuous particularly when paired with the more good natured Porky. After he started getting paired up with Bugs, who unlike the other two isn't a straight man foil, he took on a more sarcastic persona that made him acerbic and, frankly, unlikeable. He still does jester antics, like switching the hunting signs to "rabbit season", but now he also takes on a smugly superior and condescending attitude when Bugs inevitably turns the tables on him. It makes him generally unsympathetic, especially comparison to Donald, who's generally reformed overtime to shed his perpetual victimhood to be a more nuanced and sympathetic character.
  9. It’s brutal man. Couldn’t even take the kitty stroller out tonight.
  10. That's great news, Ghosty. What's your new trade?
  11. Bro... he don't work at the beef jerky factory no more...
  12. I got my only D ever on a progress report card in Trig, but I ended pulling it up to a C before the end of the semester. It’s like Pat said, it doesn’t make sense on its own, and it’s a harder to see the relationships in it than previously taught disciplines.
  13. I wasn’t great at Trig either (like I got similar grades as you).
  14. Antiquated isn’t the word I wanted to use, but it was the closest. Slide rules will never go out of fashion like the graphing calculator has; it just takes a lot of practice and it’s never going to be faster than a PC or even a phone with a graphing calculator app on it. There will always be a better way and there will always be exceptional situations when a slide rule is the only option.
  15. First of all, you don’t need to breathe oxygen in; you’re inflating the lungs so they will reflexively expel what’s in them, such as water. Secondly, what’s generally more important is chest compressions in CPR situations. At one point, there was even the suggestion that mouth to mouth wasn’t needed at all, but it does still serve a purpose as long as chest compressions are maintained.
  16. When I started Algebra, graphing calculators were brand new, so calculators weren't really a thing. I would imagine we would have been allowed to use calculators if I was studying Trigonometry in the '80s, since slide rules were antiquated.
  17. I’m not so great at math, so I get where it comes from, but I’m with you. Showing your work is a prelude to Algebra and the general use of equations and formulas; after that it doesn’t make any real sense. Most calculations are performed using visualization either wholly or in part: having to write down every step tends to interfere with that process.
  18. He would if it wasn't already Flag Day. He's probably trying to figure out how he can celebrate his birthday on another day in the year, like the late Queen of England,
  19. Fuck it. Good as this is, I’m still not getting the app.
  20. Hey, don't let her push you around like that. I'll give her some lip for you.
  21. Hey @[classic swim], how come you don't invite me over?
  22. Ghosty, with or without the Islamic Republic in power, the US is going to be a target for the same terrorists that inhabit the region.
