Right... you're getting your opinion from videos. The problem with prosecutorial reform is that it doesn't work if the underlying metrics don't change. Make no mistake, the reason violent robbery is up is because there are more people being economically marginalized. Rents and property prices are unsustainable, wages weren't able to keep up with prices even before inflation, and general corporate greed has stood in the way of meaningful reforms. Inflation now is the product of continued inaction on these points because we tended to favor artificially low prices instead of fixing the drivers of economic stability. The point is that people are still tolerating a lot, they're just opting for easy answers to complicated problems by going after prosecutors instead of (figuratively) biting the bullet and taking a hit on their retirement accounts and property values by embracing universal rent control and wage and benefit reform for employees.

What it really shows is that people are reactionary. Interestingly, one of the voting groups that helped propel Caruso into the runoff, black males, is the the group most affected by one of Caruso's principle platform points, getting more cops on the street. He didn't advocate for more foot patrols, just more cops. He also hasn't presented a cohesive plan for more homeless housing. Also, cute comment about GTA from someone who doesn't know the first thing about California. Kind of hard to take you seriously about what California voters think.

Just goes to show… people only care about social injustice when it directly affects them.

Everyone is a fucking gas lighter now,

And those mindsets are often at least partly intrinsic to human behavior.

I’m willing to ass ume that he thought he saw something in your post you just didn’t say. I can’t tell you how many long winded pontifications I had to erase after I stopped and reread the post and realized I was arguing against a point that no one made.

No one is suggesting that they’re following our example or even that human propensity for violence is uniquely American. That particular framework is uniquely yours and a straw man to Pooh’s argument. The only suggestion that access to weapons leads to them being used in this way.

Terrorists are by definition "private citizens", so yes it does have everything to do with the situation in Nigeria. Militias are not organized military units, they're loosely organized, are not state sanctioned, and have a far less rigid chain of command. You might have noticed, but we have those here too and they are equipped with.... the exact same weapons the school shooters use which.... is the same exact frame as the M-16 rifle and the basis for the modern rifles our current military uses. Furthermore, while illegal, those same weapons can be easily modified to handle select fire or fully automatic firing. The only difference is that here we have decentralized paramilitary police forces.

More importantly, attempting to control gun ownership isn't an indictment on guns, it's an acknowledgement that people can't be trusted to use guns properly. Any such incident is a reminder that when guns are out there, there remains the spectre of someone using them for their own selfish and destructive purposes.

Yeah, but what if Buddy isn't growing mushrooms on his ballsack?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Tweedly-Dum isn't exactly Presidential material, even compared to Trump the Traitor. But I digress... We all know the fundamentals at play here... I'm simply pointing out that your weekly updates of the same thing don't serve much purpose, other than as a propaganda cudgel Rick Caruso would be proud of.

Or you're just pushing an agenda.

Didn't you say the exact same thing last week?

I’m shell shocked from “Other: Specify”

That’s part of the fun.

I don’t like yard work that much, but I can see how wanting to be outside would be appealing.

Now I'm imaging the guard shack at your office smelling like Vicks.

It probably doesn't matter given we're not trying to legitimize the action. Every mass shooter has a reason without a justification, and some reasons are easier to comprehend than others. I'm a little more concerned with what Buddy pointed out and this being an easy issue for racists to link to their beliefs about violence and minorities. If it's somewhat easier to comprehend that a man acted on severe pain, it becomes less easy to push the narrative of a black man acting out of base instincts.
