  1. Took a reading today, bit more relieved. Burned off .014 points of gravity, up to ~6% ABV. Acerglyns take a long time I guess. Well it doesn't need to be done until september so we're ok.
  2. Just for reference this is the 10x20 area i was thinking of cooping up.
  3. Shit, I'll do you one better- One of these dots is the Gein place, one of these dots is where I grew up. Please don't try to use this information to track me down and kill me.
  4. Fun story about Ed Gein- this is the town where everything went down. That big red square is where I attended k-12 education.
  5. https://www.ufcw.org/who-we-represent/packing-and-processing/
  6. Guinea pigs are small, you wouldn't have to use a shovel. You could use a spoon.
  7. Is it a union job?
  8. What he doesn't need to do is jump from the frying pan into the fire. My man needs benefits.
  9. Full time with benefits?
  10. https://modernfarmer.com/2015/12/cuy/ This is exactly what I hoped to get out of this thread.
  11. Folks already got me covered as far as that goes too.
  12. A couple meals per month would be about perfect, I'm not looking to replace all my meat with home gown, but a little bit would be nice. I mean, most animals replicate if you give them enough time and mates (which doesn't work for chickens in town because no roosters). Rabbits is honestly a decent idea, I'd have to do more research into them though. I'd love to start an insect farm but convincing the wife is going to be a tough sell. She's down for chickens. *looks it up* ... I think we got a contender here.
  13. That'd be great, but I'm looking for sustainable stuff I can do on my relatively small lot. That's why chickens would be about the perfect choice, except I can't really get anything out of them.
  14. Ideas. The fish suggestion was one I hadn't thought of before, figured there was probably some other small edible critter I hadn't thought of that somebody'd be all like "Hey, why not ______?" and I'd be all like "Huh, you know I never thought about that hang on let me check the city ordinances." and then a little bit later I'd be like "Wow, looks like I could totally grow _____ in my backyard. That's awesome." @André Toulon I've already looked up Kangaroos- I don't need a permit but they're pricey.
  15. Fuck pigs. Never farm pigs. Disgusting creatures when farmed.
  16. Growing up my cousins had goats and my parents have sheep now. I'm well aware of what goes into their care, and especially how good they are at escapes. We already talked about the fish thing.
  17. Goats are way too big and require way more care than I can provide, plus slaughtering them would be more of an issue than the chickens.
  18. I listen to the local college station, when I listen to the radio. They are really good.
  19. Nah, they can keep their stuff, I just want to see what I can do on my plot.
  20. They've already got one and it's big.
  21. Yeah I got like 10x20 feet I figured I could throw a coop or a hutch on or whatever.
  22. Not in town, I'd have to pack them into the car and drive outside the city limits to chop their heads off. And I can only have 5 at a time.
  23. Thats a great idea but i don't have quite enough space for it.
  24. We get venison every year and to the best of my knowledge *checks local laws* I can legally hunt deer using a crossbow in my back yard.
