  2. I don't think so. They're still barrelling forward with the virtual roll call vote to lock him in before the actual convention. I think the simplest solution is he's trying to mollify the age people by implying "maybe you're right that I can't serve the full four years, but fortunately Kamala is already ready so calm down and support us."
  3. I think he is trying to emphasize her role as successor in the administration. Not because he's dropping out, but as a mild concession to the age complaints. The theory being he can calm that storm without dropping out simply by boosting his #2.
  4. I assume you're asking because Nate Silver was in the vanguard of the "Joe's too old" brigade?

  9. She hadn't been talked about in weeks, and once I saw she had a speaking slot I knew she was officially out of the running.

  14. yes, and the jumbling was in the first answer this will probably salvage his candidacy in the near term, but it won't kill the narrative
  15. the teleprompter speech seemed wholly adequate. his first Q&A he jumbled his words about picking his VP running against Trump and referred to Kamala as "Vice President Trump" the rest of his answers seem adequate so far. my general thought is that this isn't moving the needle in either direction. he's showing he's not out of it, but he's also showing the occasional trip-up that underpins the accusations.
  16. "any moment" has been literally an hour so far edit: starting now

  19. idk how to believe Tester and Sherrod Brown don't know how to win elections
  20. i definitely had no idea what you were replying to for a hot second
  21. I don't think there's a lot of vote flipping between the two so much as people will just not show up, or vote third party. I hate to make the comparison, but like the Roy Moore or Todd Akin races.
  22. IF the election is purely a referendum on Trump, which as of the past two weeks it hasn't been. And it can't be if Biden cannot dispell the optics. That's my general thought process right now. It's not really just a question of arguing "yeah you're moderately disappointed in him but at least he is competent and not a fascist" anymore.
