I got a second generation ipod nano maybe 2005ish? My friend had one and it seemed neat. Then I never took it out of the box until I got a summer gig in 2011 doing data entry for 13 hours a day and they literally told us to bring in music to stay sane. So I took it out of the box and plugged it in and immediately got a recall notice that the battery was more or less a bomb, and that they'd replace it. They sent me a sleeve to mail it in a they sent me whatever the current gen ipod nano was. It was half the size and held twice as much storage so it seemed like a win. After that job I've probably used it less than a dozen times when I remember it exists right before I travel. All in all probably an understatement to say I've always been behind the curve on this stuff.
