I haven't seen it yet but the new one is yet another soft reboot that re-restricts things to an island, and the only things I've really seen about it is that it doesn't actually follow through on the base promo concept of the trials and errors of cloning, and that it doesn't really have a raison d'etre beyond an excuse to adapt the raft scene from the original book (I think that was the last leftover setpiece from the original book).

they are smushed between the TV and wall now @scoob I think the second one would prevent one plug from covering the second port, assuming it fits between the TV and wall we took the TV down and adjusted slightly and everything is probably fine now, was just incredibly frustrated yesterday afternoon. the Nintendo thing in particular was my fault as i literally never plugged the console power cord back into the wall because I am a raging idiot.

wall mounted tv, when mount is flush with the wall there is not enough width for HDMI plug heads (two of the three HDMI ports are back-facing) put wood spacers between the mount and wall so plug heads fit, but not enough room to fiddle with cables without taking tv down neither the nintendo switch nor the tv recognize that the cable is plugged in, so i'd have to take the tv down again when another adult is here. how do people deal with this? did we just happen to get a stupid model tv and stupid model mount that shouldn't have been combined? or is every wall-mounted tv setup this stupid?

Republican judges with all their fake "textualism" and "originalism" etc. pretend they don't weigh the practical consequences, but yeah. They can say (paraphrasing) "we are overturning Obergefell on the premise that the underlying legal principal that opinion is based on is bullshit" and there may be dicta or a concurrence that says "plus, hey look, congress already resolved the debate statutorily so secular society won't crumble!"

They are all based off the same legal principal, but they were separate cases decades apart. To make it official they would have to write "we're overturning all cases relying on this legal theory, including Obergefell, Loving, Grizwold", otherwise gremlins would have to bring up a subsequent case for each one down the highway that's being paved to do so. If I recall correctly, that law requires red states to accept and acknowledge same sex marriage licenses from blue states, but it doesn't require the red states to provide same sex marriage licenses themselves. Which honestly in hindsight might actually have greased the wheels and make it easier to overturn Obergefell because it preempts the worst of the chaos.
