  1. The counterpoint for better or for worse is that people are watching it. It kicked Castlevania Noctune’s teeth in bad enough the show might not get a third season. It’s something that will get attention outside of Dr. Stone and Attack on Titan Plantasm whenever the dub is cleared.
  2. “Better get on those remasters.”
  3. Final trailer. Between this, Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix, and Invincible Season 2, it’s a good weekend for animation.
  4. Is it really a Pizza Hut worth a damn if it’s not that trademark building with the salad bar, red cups, and those stained glass lamps? Otherwise, throw a rock, and go to the pizza place said rock hit.
  5. Pluto 2-4. This is brilliant. Apparently it was also the result of Urasawa being such a micromanager the entire studio called him out on it.
  6. Well that is a perfectly reasonable reaction to getting Trix pops.
  7. https://animehunch.com/warner-bros-japan-makes-cryptic-jujutsu-kaisen-tweet-fans-speculate-live-action-adaptation/ No word on if it’s a Western movie or Japanese promotional film. Also no word on if Netflix is involved. Edit - Nothing burger.
  8. Nothing he says is wrong, but he also made FLCL sequels, so I don’t know if he gets to have an opinion.
  9. They were interviewing these Argentinians in the full costumes. I don’t know enough about their politics to get why, but there they were.
  10. John Oliver did a piece on Argentinian elections, and apparently supporters of the anarcho-capitalist were wearing Chainsaw Man costumes to symbolize taking a chainsaw to the government spending. Should I be relieved Oliver doesn’t know what CM is? Of course if it ends up on Netflix he will, but for now, slight relief.
  11. My main concern is if people will double dip. The show is popular. It aired on Netflix and beat the brakes off a ton of their originals, (Fuck you Nocturne!) but Mugen Train is almost four years old. If people come back to Toonami for seconds, great, but I wonder if more people will just watch on Netflix.
  12. Or if you’re stuck with AT&T for your phone, you look up how to get free Max from them, apparently a leftover of the old ownership.
  13. This is a shocker given how Demon Slayer has been cleaning up everywhere it’s aired, and frankly, seemed outside Toonami’s budget.
  14. As long as it doesn’t affect premiere dates elsewhere, which is what I always worry about. This is a big deal, especially after Demon Slayer’s most recent season kicked Castlevania Nocturne’s ass despite having been on Crunchyroll for months.
  15. So uh, guess Uzumaki is going to miss yet another deadline. The fact that Zaslav hasn't sent it to tax write-off hell is honestly surprising at this point. Scavengers Reign is beautiful, so hope they make more stuff like that. Because as far as anime goes, best case scenario for the dub of Titan is January I'd say, Naruto is finishing up its tour of duty sometime next year and DeMarco already cut Boruto loose, with no take-backs thanks to Crunchyroll, and after that is One Piece, which next contract will likely see a substantial price increase thanks to the Netflix show. 2024 will be Crunch Time for Toonami in a big way, especially since as far as anime goes, Ninja Kamui and that Watanabe project are it. If the block still has value to air leftover Max stuff that couldn't air on Adult Swim proper, there's always Creature Commandos, more MAWS, and if all else truly fails, Velma. If DeMarco doesn't want his baby to be dragged through the mud as a mere encore block for random Y7 shows/Mindy Kailing vanity projects, then late 2024/early 2025 may be when it's time to gracefully wind down the block's operations.
  16. If it helps any, this is part of a general cleaning of a lot of venture capital funded projects that had little chance of attracting that big an audience.
  17. Pluto hit Netflix today and is apparently considered a triumph, but I still feel like if Mike Lazzo was around, he would have done his damndest to get it for Toonami. Edit - Odds are they wouldn’t have been able to afford Keith David for the dub.
  18. Here's hoping it works.
  19. November 26 premiere with a next day Max airing.
  20. It’s official. https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a45640426/pluto-netflix-anime-review/ Pluto is a triumph, an example of real anime from Netflix at its best.
  21. The early days. You can't really do this anymore when other than Aqua Teen, most of the productions are more complicated than "use recycled animation clip and have the actors freestyle over it".
