  1. I remember a similar look through the Sentai warchest when that was deemed to be an option, only for DeMarco to not go near anything there. So this may be a case of having too high expectations just because something good finally fell in.
  2. Lol. Lmao, even. Still, it’s an endorsement.
  3. The fact that they actually a content pipeline open again after most of 2023 made it seem like Crunchyroll sealed off what they had with cement is welcome news. It also reduces if not eliminates the need to make originals, which given their thimble of budget and warped priorities, was never going to work. They don't have connections to existing IPs the way Netflix does, after all, DeMarco was the guy who asked Kojima to adapt Metal Gear into an anime, and Kojima LAUGHED HIS ASS OUT OF THE BUILDING. DeMarco ain't digging up Martian Successor Nadiesco out of mothballs, so the smart play is to use the Aniplex pipeline to the hilt and occasionally air a Max castoff to fill the ends.
  4. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-11-18/gurren-lagann-films-to-screen-in-n-america-in-january-2024/.204594 Well it was a Toonami show. Don’t suppose Max can get the movies. They got Promare.
  5. Caught up with Jujutsu Kaisen S2.
  6. Apparently Demon Slayer is now “you pay for it, we’ll let you air it” because you know CR and Netflix will air the newest season as soon as they’re allowed to.
  7. Curious indeed. Guess they’re treating it like Viz is treating Zom 100. “Look, if you can pay for it, you can air it.”
  8. Would you want him near your stuff? Please let the Dodge muscle EV come out soon, so I can really forget Tesla exists.
  9. That’s not at all what I expected to see. Actual anime, not some rejected DC cartoon Zaslav would have written off.
  10. Spoiler! And probably a recommendation to not watch this. Or do, I don’t care.
  11. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-11-16/great-pretender-anime-gets-razbliuto-sequel-in-2024/.204541 Apparently CR sits on the production committee of the block it’s airing on, so they get dibs.
  12. Considering that Swordsmith Village aired on Netflix last month, and as noted before, utterly clobbered that piece of shit Castlevania Nocturne show, it’s pretty clear that a lot of people just didn’t want to wait.
  13. Years of cartoons that were supposed to be for kids really being by weirdo shippers for weirdo shippers, a general reluctance to make merchandise driven stuff nearly ceding that sector entirely to film, and muddled demographics mean this is what happens. I think I saw the writing on the wall earlier in the year when I had one of those monthly movie passes and spent a Sunday watching that recap Demon Slayer film. Families bought their kids, and those kids were 9-10, tops. Yes it’s a young boys franchise but it was an R rated film with beheadings. That’s the purest definition of muddled demographics. Especially with the internet where everyone has an opinion on a show. Ironically one of the few that seemed to embrace being for kids was one adults hate, Teen Titans Go.

  15. At this point the smart play is to cancel their upcoming slate, have Deadpool 3 completely make fun of this, and start fresh with the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
  16. I’m too used to Queens. I still remember him being on the screen during a PPV night and he was booed to hell and back. Now I have to settle for Bill Burr’s wife flipping him off.
  17. And probably booed at every bar in the five boroughs.
  18. This is admittedly an inspired casting choice -
  19. Whether this hems closer to One Piece or Cowboy Bebop, it's hard to say. I'm admittedly worried about pacing.
  20. Looks better than Shamalyan’s attempt.
