Finished Nomad: Megalobox 2. ‘Shame Toonami never got to air it. Damn shame.

The overexposure coincides with the show having low replay value. Not a quality issue, but just the nature of it being a serialized action cartoon with only four episodes, and one airing in a lot of other places. You see it once, you don't need to see it again till next week. We're a little less than halfway through the 10 episode series run, so overall impression from the audience is a bit too early to decipher. Not to mention this a pretty big case of "Eat your fucking vegetables weeb", because Unicorn is unlike a lot of the modern Western silly billy cartoons, or cartoons that claim to be from people who want action, but the showrunners can't remember a single anime scene outside of some vague memories of DBZ or Sailor Moon that wasn't in the Michael Jackson "Scream" video. Would audiences be more likely to watch Demon Slayer or Witch from Mercury? Yes, but we need Unicorn to show the suits you can make an action cartoon for all ages without the DC Comics characters.

Here’s an interesting question - Are low ratings for UWE due to a disinterested audience or because the show is on at numerous times, including next day Max airings? As easy as it is to lay into the show for what I perceive to be its audience issues, it’s airing on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday after ACME hour, with a next day Max premiere and planned marathons. That results in a lot of potential audience dilution even if it’s not the nonstop airings of TT Go and Craig of the Creek.

I’m doing my damndest to make Pernil, and it is good, but I always feel like I miss one or two things my mother does with it. Especially the skin. I will go mad trying to cook as well as Mom.

Two more June schedules revealed, still no new shows
Jman replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I want to be optimistic that Uzumaki will come out, but considering that another Junji Ito anthology (that went from a poor adaptation to a merely OK one) got announced, made, and released after Uzumaki’s initial announcement, my hope for a release ever is significantly tempered. -
Unicorn: Warriors Eternal Episode 4 talkback
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I’m sure most of the audience watches on Toonami night, but I’m obliged to put up the talkback the day it debuts, being Thursday. I know that my gripes about being a kids show aside, the show seems to be getting a positive reaction on social media with Western cartoon enthusiasts, although how that translates to a content starved Toonami audience is anyone’s guess.- 84 replies

Meanwhile the AEW deal appears to be in serious trouble because CM Punk is a dickhead that can’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag, with even some rumors WWE may be seeing if Warner is interested. So have no fear, Adult Swim will be wrestling free for now.

Meanwhile Zaslav is saying streamers should be bundled together.

Well, it seems clear that this whole thing will not affect Toonami in any meaningful way. Just as well, DeMarco has always described Toonami as a passion project rather than a major going concern for the Warner bigwigs, especially since the Crunchyroll sale. Well, at least they got Dr. Stone. On a similar note, this feels less like Warner abandoning the kid audience and more them just not seeing much of a role for linear television. TBS and TNT have both been stripped into rerun platforms with live sports airings, and it looks like if it's not completely mothballed, Cartoon Network may follow suit. If the back end of the block, or Toonami as a whole, starts airing All Elite Wrestling, it might be time to wonder just how long Cartoon Network as a channel has. I imagine Cartoon Network and Adult Swim as brands for Max will endure even if the channels do not though.

If it's like the Fox and ABC upfronts, expect a premium being placed on unscripted content (Max is All Elite to the tune of $1 billion over 5 years) with the focus being on the Max rebrand and the unscripted shows that they will probably be using to keep content pouring in while the writers picket. Ironically, Zaslav is one of the only studio heads to make a public statement sympathetic to the writers, claiming they deserve fair pay. They may also mention the DC relaunch, with the hopes for better brand synergy than the Snyder years. If Adult Swim gets mentioned, it will likely be brief.
