Half feel like he has a point, the other half are going “OK Boomer.” I think he has a point, but it was phrased rather awkwardly.

Yeah, during a night promoting the new Rick and Morty season. It’s like everyone is trying to piss off Jim Cornette at once (and Omega is apparently friends with Undertale’s creator). Edit - -
1999, so you’re on the nose. Big cast for a Netflix movie admittedly. Lot of recognizable talent.

I feel like this mentality is a remnant of the bad old days on ASA, before there was anime on every single streaming channel, a ton of it for free or nestled nicely next to Stranger Things or The Handmaid’s Tale. There were only X number of slots, and odds are good DeMarco in his infinite wisdom was probably not going to pick the show you and your friends liked, for whatever reason, and there were plenty (rates, age, DeMarco’s confessed dislike of fanservice elements). So everyone naturally felt left out and lashed out the best way they knew how to on a forum. Call the show dumb and compare its fans to barely sapient pond scum that are contributing to the dumbing of society. The thing is, we don’t really need to do that anymore. So what Fire Force isn’t your bag? (I like it but I’ve admittedly fallen behind). There’s only what...two dozen shows being simulcast this season? You’re no longer at the whim of Toonami/Adult Swim as the supreme arbiters of what does and doesn’t get shown to the masses. It helps if like gen:Lock you’re behind paywalls most people are uninterested in, but for the most part, they don’t control what people can and cannot watch, save some annoying dub exclusives with Viz and Aniplex. But it’s so ingrained in how we operate that our approach hasn’t really changed, despite the plenty of content we have.

https://www.indiewire.com/2019/10/hbo-max-free-att-1202184958/ HBO MAX, as some of you know, is going to be WarnerMedia’s big super service, combining HBO, Rooster Teeth, Adult Swim/Toonami, and Crunchyroll into the Megazord of streaming. (The individual services will still be available separately). Giving people who subscribe to HBO but would be uninterested in Toonami or Crunchyroll HBO MAX would dramatically increase the reach of their offerings.

Anyone catch this on Netflix? Not only is the first major appearance of Eddie Murphy in anything since forever, it gives a similar vibe to Ed Wood or The Disaster Artist, people with big dreams and small talent making something big despite common sense arguing otherwise.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-10-27/one-piece-stampede-film-opening-day-in-u.s-ranks-at-no.6/.152672 It’s more than a one day release, but hardly mainstream. Of course at the current rate of things we’re gonna see the live action Halo (due first quarter 2021) before LA One Piece, so this is probably the ceiling for now.
