Half feel like he has a point, the other half are going “OK Boomer.” I think he has a point, but it was phrased rather awkwardly.
  2. If anyone was gonna no-sell it, it was gonna be the Hulkster brother.
  3. Yeah, during a night promoting the new Rick and Morty season. It’s like everyone is trying to piss off Jim Cornette at once (and Omega is apparently friends with Undertale’s creator). Edit -
  4. MHA is appearing in more stuff lately.
  5. 1999, so you’re on the nose. Big cast for a Netflix movie admittedly. Lot of recognizable talent.
  6. I feel like this mentality is a remnant of the bad old days on ASA, before there was anime on every single streaming channel, a ton of it for free or nestled nicely next to Stranger Things or The Handmaid’s Tale. There were only X number of slots, and odds are good DeMarco in his infinite wisdom was probably not going to pick the show you and your friends liked, for whatever reason, and there were plenty (rates, age, DeMarco’s confessed dislike of fanservice elements). So everyone naturally felt left out and lashed out the best way they knew how to on a forum. Call the show dumb and compare its fans to barely sapient pond scum that are contributing to the dumbing of society. The thing is, we don’t really need to do that anymore. So what Fire Force isn’t your bag? (I like it but I’ve admittedly fallen behind). There’s only what...two dozen shows being simulcast this season? You’re no longer at the whim of Toonami/Adult Swim as the supreme arbiters of what does and doesn’t get shown to the masses. It helps if like gen:Lock you’re behind paywalls most people are uninterested in, but for the most part, they don’t control what people can and cannot watch, save some annoying dub exclusives with Viz and Aniplex. But it’s so ingrained in how we operate that our approach hasn’t really changed, despite the plenty of content we have.
  7. https://www.cbr.com/south-park-streaming-rights-hbo-max/ HBO Max is apparently also going down to South Park, which is the closest we’ll ever get to having South Park on Adult Swim.
  8. You make one snarky comment and everyone wants a Bloodsport.
  9. If it’s anything like HBO Go, you’re probably looking at next day delivery. Morty will air 9-10pm Sunday, it will be up 1am EST Monday.
  10. https://www.indiewire.com/2019/10/hbo-max-free-att-1202184958/ HBO MAX, as some of you know, is going to be WarnerMedia’s big super service, combining HBO, Rooster Teeth, Adult Swim/Toonami, and Crunchyroll into the Megazord of streaming. (The individual services will still be available separately). Giving people who subscribe to HBO but would be uninterested in Toonami or Crunchyroll HBO MAX would dramatically increase the reach of their offerings.
  11. Anyone catch this on Netflix? Not only is the first major appearance of Eddie Murphy in anything since forever, it gives a similar vibe to Ed Wood or The Disaster Artist, people with big dreams and small talent making something big despite common sense arguing otherwise.
  12. I maintain this was about the ceiling of the franchise given that they gave it a whole week instead of a one night showing. Broly got that and made a ton of money, so why this was their follow up I do not get. It would have made more sense as a one night Fathom release.
  13. This was more meant to discuss One Piece’s ceiling on popularity despite it getting a week to air, which only Broly did prior (and Broly pulled down way more money than anyone expected). Toei still wants One Piece to be mainstream like Dragonball is, but this shows the ceiling.
  14. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-10-27/one-piece-stampede-film-opening-day-in-u.s-ranks-at-no.6/.152672 It’s more than a one day release, but hardly mainstream. Of course at the current rate of things we’re gonna see the live action Halo (due first quarter 2021) before LA One Piece, so this is probably the ceiling for now.
  15. Who wants a peek into the thought process of the professional scary person and cat enthusiast?
  16. No, it’s the wrestling side of the equation that hates him.
  17. I never got treating discussions like a job.
  18. https://www.cagesideseats.com/2019/10/25/20932343/rick-morty-all-elite That and a new season is coming up.
  19. It’s a good anchor for the block given what they have to work with, even if it’s another show that seems popular everywhere but Toonami.
  20. Yeah because that occurred right as the television landscape shifted for everyone.
  21. This is a big surprise, but I guess the Toonami airings did put the show over the top. Let’s see what happens, and if HBO MAX is even affordable. My current piece is if it replaces HBO Now/Go it will do fine. If it’s on top of that, fuck no.
