  1. Hoo boy, the actual school festival. Let’s get this over with so the writers can go back into digging through X-Men stories. I guess we could do The Twelve after this...
  2. Kind of wondering if they’re still committed to a theatre showing or if they’re just going to release it on home media.
  3. All I remember about Cream Lemon (never saw it) was that Project A-Ko was supposed to be an episode of it, then they decided the premise was silly and strong enough to not need the porn bits.
  4. If only it were that simple. No, to understand this series, you apparently need to have read novels from the original writers (including one that’s supposed to be his version of GXP) as well as numerous unlicensed doujins. You want to know what happens when Mihoshi lets her hair down, since that apparently restores her original memories? Only explained in the doujunishi. It is as incomprehensible as American comics can be.
  5. https://comicbook.com/anime/news/naruto-anime-live-action-casting-call/ The idea of anime being the new comic book has gained steam as Hollywood rapidly burns through the good comics available to them, but...Naruto? Really?!
  6. Actually I was fairly optimistic this week. A lot of PPV traffic is generated by public gatherings and social events and that’s simply not possible right now. Many a fight fan might hold on to their money, watch Toonami, and catch next day highlights.
  7. As if you’d actually see the sex outside of whatever non-canon doujin is floating around.
  8. UFC prelims were number 2, but without a lot of the public gathering places to watch the PPV (and social distancing making parties a no-go), it may not hit the ratings as hard.
  9. It’s funny, because the anime industry nearly imploded last economic downturn in the age of 4 episode per DVD volumes. The changing nature of distribution has made the industry a lot more resilient.
  10. Also this screen capture seems to perfectly reflect the casual audience reaction to PA. (If you have Netflix, you should watch Dolemite Is My Name).
  11. Kagura died. I believe Rin survived. Looks like the new lead gets to have the magic sword this time. They’re all girls apparently, just one was raised by Kagome’s brother in the present.
  12. One word - Also the implication is one of them is Sesshy’s kids. Rin?
  13. Linear television is down as a whole from what I’ve seen. It’s either stuff that has aired elsewhere, or in the case of PA, stuff people didn’t want to watch the first time.
  14. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2020-05-07/hbo-max-and-crunchyroll-team-to-bring-fans-more-anime-on-may-27th/.159331 Very random selection TBH. I guess the idea is to tease you into buying a CR subscription since VRV is likely going the way of the 8 track.
  15. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-05-07/japan-anime-internet-distribution-market-overtakes-home-video-market/.159304 This is supported by both overseas and domestic anime industry growth (fitting given every streaming service chomping at the bit for anime) but it represents a turning point away from the traditional “low population high volume” purchases of otaku in favor of everyone watching something.
  16. The joking title “Anime, the anime” gets used a lot but it fits AGK to a tee.
  17. I just wonder about the production end. Powerhouse Studios was boasting that it’s doing its work from home (hence why production is continuing fairly smoothly on their Masters of the Universe project) but I don’t know how many studios have that luxury.
  18. Well one got a crappy Japanese live action TV show and the other is getting a big budget Hollywood movie. You tell me who wins.
  19. They did something similar when they offered the Nozomi USA catalog for streaming. It’s a matter of bulking up their proprietary service, especially with so many simulcasts on delayed schedules.
  20. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-05-04/funimation-adds-nis-america-anime-to-catalog/.159248 This includes most notably, Cardcaptor Sakura. The internet immediately responded with this -
  21. Even Netflix isn’t fully immune. The new GITS has its dub listed as “pending” because it’s not safe to have the actors in ADR.
  22. There’s deals in place to make MAX and Now the same amount. Warner is betting big on this service, which will further complicate the streaming wars and anime’s place in them.
  23. I’d rather watch Man of Steel than Evolution any day of the week. Even if Henry Cavill is playing Goku for all intents and purposes.
  24. Is it as horny as the anime? Otherwise it’s not Kakegurui.
