Great Pretender 1-3.

Hosted by Moltar, and primarily composed of stories concerning the Hanna Barbera action lineup, this was a thing during the genesis of Toonami. Naturally this was before the block became synonymous with anime (and it was Marvel that liked to throw licenses into their universe), so no attempts from DC writers to write Dragon Ball or Tenchi.

The first episode is on YouTube. Legally. So here’s an opportunity to form an opinion. Personally, I like it. High concept story with a creepy plot.

Eh, I’m sure firing a few more people from the comic division will cover the costs. -
Act-Age manga cancelled after author tries soliciting middle schoolers
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
The manga has quickly been erased. Every single publication translating it has stopped, printings have stopped, and it’s been removed from bookstores. And as the final nail in the coffin, the most recent chapter of Watamote - -
WarnerMedia is notorious for the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. I have no reason to think the story is false if Variety posted it. It’s weird because the virtual convention made it a point that Toonami was working primarily on co-productions and a week later WarneMedia goes “we’re selling the company.”.

DeMarco having shit taste is a meme, but there are things he does that make sense from a business perspective, and things that...don’t. The Uzumaki thing is fairly simple. You can’t beat the streamers on speed of the big shows, or even ease of access unless you’re talking about areas that have poor internet accessibility. And there’s only so much money DeMarco can pour into originals (and there’s going to be a lot less cash to go around if WarnerMedia sells off Crunchyroll to Sony or NBC Universal, to name a few prospective candidates). So doing something in black and white stretches the dollar further. A Blade Runner anime? Blade Runner’s still a name with clout even if no one saw 2049, and we all know how DeMarco feels about Watanabe. My main concern is a lot of these originals rely on Crunchyroll co-funding. If WarnerMedia sells it off and they bail with those co-productions, leaving DeMarco up shit creek without a paddle, 2021 will be just as anemic even if we have the vaccine. -
batman Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and 2 Discussion

You say that when there’s an adaptation of the Killing Joke that added a completely pointless Batman and Barbara Gordon sex scene. Or the ridiculous attempts to make Damien Wayne and Raven a thing. Miller’s heavy, bulky designs aside, this is a great story at its core. It’s the story of someone beaten down by his life finding new motivation to continue helping people. -

I loved how they did the fight here compared to the original comic. The choreography was a lot more elaborate with Bats rocking the Jiu jitsu against a younger and stronger opponent. -

Funny thing is Year One and DKR are both based on Frank Miller’s best Batman work (everything afterwards has been awful to “Oh Dear God, you’re serious”). Year One is the prologue, DKR is considered by many to be the definitive Batman story. Both are worth it IMO. -
Code Geass 8-15. Netflix, if you want to make a live action adaptation of something and add sex to it, this would make a lot more sense than freaking ATLA (and yes I know the rumor was baseless, it’s still funny).

The internet thought it was, but upon review it wasn’t for the WHY. They are gone, and that was confirmed. Title will be updated.

Edit - While they are gone, the reasons are unknown at this time.

How Would You All Feel If It Turns Out Toonami Moves Elsewhere?

Even with cable declining, we’re still years off from channels being folded. The CN Name, if nothing else, has value as a brand. -
How Would You All Feel If It Turns Out Toonami Moves Elsewhere?

Where the hell would it move? Warner trying to unload Crunchyroll makes it perfectly clear they don’t need or want an anime streaming service, so that’s right out, not to mention DeMarco hates streaming because he misses being the sole tastemaker for the industry. As for the block’s future, it is what it is. And what it is is well, a block with a limited budget, a limited amount of shows, and no real way to expand that. So at this point, you should enjoy the time you have with the block, because there’s nowhere left for it to go. -
https://variety.com/2020/digital/news/warnermedia-selling-crunchyroll-anime-sony-1234733441/ Warner wants CR gone ASAP to pair down their debt. As for those Toonami originals, if they are primarily Crunchyroll productions, and the service is sold to let’s say, Amazon, odds are good that the shows never see Toonami, which would put DeMarco up shit creek without a paddle.

https://variety.com/2020/digital/news/warnermedia-selling-crunchyroll-anime-sony-1234733441/ Warner is not playing. They want all non-essential assets GONE and have courted multiple buyers for Crunchyroll with a $1 billion asking price. Potential buyers have not been listed, but I would be unsurprised if Amazon or NBC Universal was looking into buying the service to boost their own streaming offerings.
