  1. If Genndy doesn’t object to it, it’s probably just Primal. Uzumaki isn’t due till Halloween, and the new originals are just announced (plus there’s a more than zero chance the Rick and Morty anime just airs Sunday between Rick and Morty seasons proper to keep the Rick train going). It’s telling they can’t even get sloppy seconds at this point that aren’t legacy airings. For God’s sake, AMC has Sentai and with it, Redo of Healer, the definitive joke choice that would at least get the block attention. When that’s locked down, what do we have?
  2. Enough do that you see the overlap at conventions all the time (this from someone who prefers real fighting to scripted combat). Of course, the streaming crunch has proven that you cannot make something everyone will like. It’s just the nature of the beast. The AEW joke is more elaborate, that the French Toonami channel does air AEW, so “AEWToonami” trends on Twitter on occasion.
  3. The idea Toonami has to make originals is interesting. I’m wondering if they were stick with pure original concepts or if they’ll do what Netflix does and adapt lesser known manga. I mean if Netflix adapts Bastard!! DeMarco needs to adapt something similarly as cool.
  4. Bob is at #3 behind Doctor Strange and Top Gun. Being a damn musical didn’t help.
  5. Rangers forced Game 7. Again. It can never be easy, can it?
  6. It came out yesterday. It’s currently tracking worldwide to make $30 million total, half its budget.
  7. https://www.thefilmik.com/the-bobs-burgers-movie-budget-revealed/ Who the hell thought Bob’s Burgers needed $60 million?! And the same weekend as Top Gun? This is going to bomb as audience feel the need, the need for speed.
  8. Looks like we’re going to get our first look at what they’ve come up with on June 6. In the interim, Netflix has added more episodes of the anime proper to their service.
  9. Apple TV?! You’re supposed to have all the original, artsy stuff! Shame!
  10. Making One Piece is one thing. Spending all this money on it is where I get confused. They can definitely afford to make Alvida’s actress drop the weight.
  11. Looks like the ads are in Grand Central Station, the busiest subway hub in the city. Plenty of people probably see them.
  12. DeMarco implied he asked for it during S1 and Crunchyroll turned him down IIRC.
  13. First trailer. The presumption is that this is in fact a period piece.
  14. Cartoon Network is a primary source for Primal. Less so their other lineup. Not to mention Shenmue just ended so a rerun isn’t high priority.
  15. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/rick-morty-anime-spinoff-1235149017/ Granted, the show has had full blown anime shorts before, but this is a full season.

  17. Literally an hour later they canceled more Western cartoons. I seriously expect to see a Bad Guys TV show and a full on Rayearth remake at this rate as they cancel yet another Western animation project that’s been in development for two years.
  18. The money they saved by canceling a ton of clout projects and laying off employees, apparently. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/netflix-scraps-2-kids-animated-series-1235138508/amp/ https://www.gamesradar.com/bone-cancelled-netflix/
  19. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/cannes-japanese-anime-worlds-most-bankable-genre-1235146810/ This while their Western animation department and releases were utterly gutted.
  20. I was talking about the sexual stuff.
  21. Yeah but not only would it be sliced to ribbons, the dub wouldn’t be available for months on streaming services.
  22. Rev up the chainsaws and prepare for an adaptation of the hit manga.
