Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

I imagine it’s all to a legal defense fund. $44 billion was already fucked as a purchase price, now add the lawsuits that likely are headed towards his ass for libel. -
Then people will shoot back. That’s the inevitable result of this rhetoric. People shoot, others shoot back. Is that what you want to hear?

I’m thinking it’s a coin flip. Toei values the TV time because to them there is something very impressive about their products airing on big Western television (it was the reason the late great Antonio Inoki loved competing in Madison Square Garden, he felt it made him look like a big deal) and streaming is a relatively new market that’s only starting to make headway there (we’re only two years past Japanese streaming overtaking their physical media offerings in total value). Conversely, there are a LOT of fingers in the One Piece pie. Film Red has an IMAX screening thanks to Crunchyroll (and Jaime Lee Curtis attended the screening while promoting Halloween Ends). Netflix legitimately believes their adaptation of OP can be the next Game of Thrones hence the enormous amount of money being thrown at it (and Curtis flat out said if the show doesn’t suck she would be first in line for a Kureha audition). This is arguably not on anyone over here, but on Toei, if they value that cable TV presence, no matter how diluted, over the promises of CR and Netflix.

There was another last week actually! More crunch accusations and treating LBGTQ+ employees like crap while paying lip service to social Justice. This essay is mostly about how the show they made was dogshit because the writers did not understand anything about the genre and were busy sniffing their own farts instead.

Can you sue a social media platform for libel? I imagine we’re going to find out soon. -
There are a lot of fingers in the One Piece pie for a multitude of reasons. Film Red coming out and Crunchyroll having a firm grip on new episodes, Netflix gathering old episodes and preparing a LA series that they apparently think can replace Stranger Things (doubtful) and that leaves Toonami out in the cold.

What Tv show are you Watching on Cable, Netflix, Hulu, etc?

Kamen Rider Black Sun 1-2. A political/social drama that just happens to use tokusatsu monsters as its allegory for oppressed minorities, with the main heroes being a teenage protestor and an insect man with a bike. -

I heard. To be fair, California isn’t exactly lacking for day gig actors. I have no doubt people are going to get fired, and that they will likely be compensated very well by their contracts and in high demand. Musk’s fun now will be financial pain come spring. -

Considering the severances, I think they’ll be alright. Probably won’t be able to get a job recommendation though. -

I’m genuinely curious if they plan to actually point out to the public how the sacred algorithm works. Burn the whole goddamn thing down. Show everyone how the outrage sausage gets made. -

Anime Homer is real. -
You can’t negotiate with a brick wall that wants to kill you. That’s what talking to Putin is.

It’s only bad if they disagree with what’s being said. Otherwise whatever. -

A set release date, but still no word on who is distributing it. Given Helluva Boss episodes have been freely distributed on YouTube one would gather that getting A24 means it’s Netflix or Amazon bound. I’m presuming Netflix given they have a working relationship with A24. -
That one was apparently on the production company. Netflix is maddeningly inconsistent. For every Baki or Bastard there’s some garbage Polygon production. Hell, their Godzilla entries are both complete garbage (The Polygon trilogy) and a very good if admittedly very dense story (Singular Point). Here’s hoping with all their alleged refinements this gets fixed soon.

Congratulations to everyone on this board who has Twitter stock. Go get yourselves a nice steak for lunch. Condolences for everyone working for Twitter. Things sound like they’re about to go sideways. -

Maybe they can finally switch to weekly releases. Broadcast releases outside of Japan though (and even there) are becoming less of an option as cord cutting accelerates and no one wants to do things on other peoples time.

Looking it over, MHA S5 sounds like Crunchyroll finally was able to exercise an option to keep new episodes out of Toonami. Speaking of, between Crunchyroll releasing the animated movies, and Netflix gearing up for its LA Game of Thrones level adaptation, I’m wondering if they’re trying to get it off Toonami.
