Food Wars! The Fifth Plate premieres on Toonami on March 18
Jman replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I’m going to be here looking on at the other shows on HIDIVE that DeMarco would never have aired in a million years. Godannar, Majestic Prince, Princess Principal, Akhiba Maid War… How did the last season do ratings wise? -
What cartoon are you watching on cable, Netflix, Hulu, etc

Cultured, cow free dairy is likely to beat cultured meat to market
Jman replied to Jman's topic in Current Events
To be fair, dairy free substitutes for the lactose intolerant will likely be a thing even if this replaces cow based dairy just because of the health issues. Although like cultured meat, I wonder how that would affect people who refuse meat and dairy for ethical reasons, when it being raised in a lab means no cruelty. -
This is why I'm utterly baffled at the people blaming "wokeness" for this. This is a grift, and they were taking advantage of looser regulations by serving companies and start-ups that couldn't get loans at more regulated banks. It's literally subprime mortgages for the people trying to make the next Hazbin Hotel or gaming news websites full of outrage articles about Hogwarts Legacy.

Demarco is fishing for Sentai titles people are interested in
Jman replied to Toonamiguy321's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Feels like we all want something to air from the Sentai catalog but the odds of any of them airing (Ushio and Tora, Godannar, Princess Principal) are low I would gather. Still, it all boils down to what Sentai wants to promote as well as what DeMarco wants to air. -

Recreate the conditions to produce it in a cow the old fashioned way in a lab, only with less cow farts and grazing. -
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/sony-crunchyroll-specialty-streamer-asian-content-1235352518/ The parent that got the kids and the house in the split between Toonami and FUNi/Crunchyroll is getting spotlight articles in the trade papers about how a their focus on getting more anime and abandoning their originals (while also promoting more cultural stuff like their awards show) and how their control of the sector is parallel to Sony itself seeing themselves as an “arms dealer” to streamers at war.

You’d think the country with more Michelin star restaurants per square foot than any other country would have more options. -
Eh, just because most of them do doesn’t mean I wouldn’t air one or two. It’s like visual novels, sure plenty suck, but that didn’t stop Stein’s Gate from existing.

…Damn typos. Chocolate milk should also be easy to make in the lab. -
Yeah, I recognize those things. Growing up the damn tree worms fell over everyone’s car come Springtime.

Cocaine Bear - 7/10 Fun monster movie that is ultimately a fairly standard take on the genre separated by its liberal use of black comedy and a few too many subplots for its own good. It still works mostly because the Cocaine Bear is a surprisingly sympathetic monster and the dialog is good. Also Ray Lilota seems to be having fun in his final movie.

The absolute worst way to look at a trend is from week to week, or God forbid, day to day. It will drive you utterly insane because change in entertainment and the timeframe for deals is in months, while production times range from months to years, especially with animation lead time (that is, the time it takes to make animation vs. actually airing it). Let Invincible and Allen the Alien explain the concept at roughly about 56 seconds. Point is, they're using MHA episodes now, presumably because stuff is either in the pipeline or deals are being made, but it might be a while before we see the results.
