  1. He's pretty much stopped Toonami talk (especially ratings) on his twitter and ask.fm. He mostly sticks to music, movies, and social causes. He may have gotten sick of it or told by his superiors to stop.
  2. I think Parasyte was supposed to be a big SDC announcement. I also think that Lupin was supposed to be the big Momocon announcement, but TMS beat them to the punch. Are they doing AX this year? If hey are, that's where they probably will announce the replacement for Aot. But lets be honest, they probably want to rerun that one at 12:30 based on current programing logic.
  3. I never understood the logic behind this, don't you want people knowing about a show that's coming? Do they make deals that run down to the wire like that or is it more of a not telling people for the sake of control. It leaves little time for promotion.
  4. We are in a bad place right now. They gave too much control to TOEI, the supposedly highly requested shows are not hitting like they thought they would, and they are running the hit show into the ground because they seem to think that's their best course of action. They don't have faith in Super to put it at 11 either. Super won't hit even a million if they leave Jack there all summer. But they have to be OK with that unless they are willing to make a change. They also need to work out a new deal with TOEI (hopefully they have that ability with each batch of episodes) or find some other place to put the Super rerun. But let them keep trying this all summer, we'll see what happens next time management sees a overall network ratings crisis.
  5. Some people (like my brother) also kept up with the DB Super fansubs because he thought they did at better job and used proper terminology.
  6. Yeah, its just that the thought process of legally supporting your fandom is just not there amongst the general population. I know so many people who hack Amazon Fire sticks and use some all inclusive Android app to watch pirated content, I can't remember the name. My wife has 5 or 6 people at her job who watch AoT, none of whom are watching it on legal sites despite it being widely available. I also know a lot of people who are "DUBS SUCK! Except for DBZ with the Faulconer score!"
  7. We'll see later today! I bet it didn't do too bad, but limits what everything else can do,
  8. Well, yeah, I forgot to mention those, but I thought I'd just go down the premieres that can be watched elsewhere right now before they air!
  9. Or as my pirating friend says, "Oh well, as long as they are fansubs"
  10. DING DING DING!!! Tokyo Ghoul, DBZ KAI, Naruto, and Gits, and Gundam Unicorn are all available to watch dubbed on the internet. Not all legally, but people don't care about that as long as they don't have to deal with the consequences.
  11. Hey that's not funny! My cat has AIDS! You hurt her feelings!
  12. It shows that the holiday thing doesn't matter if you air something people want to watch. Not many other networks took the weekend off. All my wife's usual Sunday night shows aired new episodes as usual.
  13. Yeah I remember the sudden shift on 3/10/08 where people's TV guides we not even reflecting the change. They had just finished a E7 weeknight run and we're just starting a final weeknight run for Champloo. Then later that year we lost Toonami and we had anime premieres at 5AM! They also lost a ton of rights that year and I think the way of doing business moving forward changed. It seemed they picked up shows for unlimited reruns for a set number of years and then it seems they went to a model for either less time or single airings. The exceptions seemed to be FLCL and Bebop.
  14. Because the Jack marathon was a good send off. But its asking a lot for people to come back for the 4th or 5th showing of it.
  15. The promo has been done since Momocon but you're right. I just don't see why they won't air it if it's ready
  16. I did have a mild curiosity about it back in 2000 2001. At the time I was curious as to why some of the shows that I liked were taken off the air Toonami or otherwise. I was curious as to why things like reboot we're getting the umpteenth run while things like Thundercats and Ronin Warriors were taken off the block. I remember sitting on my computer and my dad walked into the room and was like "Are you reading about viewer demographics?" It seemed that even with weeknight anime they were very guilty of showing the same shows (usually FMA, Inuyasha, and Gits). In 07 when they finally started changing it up, it got yanked.
  17. You know whats funny. I never followed ratings until ASA/Toonami. The network made such a big deal about it in their bumps that I started paying attention. They conditioned us to care!
  18. Why haven't we seen a Lupin promo on air yet? With it being at 2am it needs all the help it can get!
  19. They basically let a company (TOEI), who have no idea how TV works in America push them around in order to get this show. I feel like AS was in the power seat and could have said, "Hey guys you want it on TV at all ?". I'd wage to say that Kim Manning and Jason Demarco know more about how to make anime a success on TV than any executive at TOEI. Even so, Suoer isn't doing "bad " in either showing, but its the cascading affect that the rest of the night suffers from. As for Jack, they got complacent. They had a hit and they thought they could get away with this. The bets thing they could have done is stick a rerun later in the block and just let FG have back 11, but to them it was more important for Toonami to keep 11. Maybe there is a reason for that, I don't know. They obviously do not have faith that Super can bring in viewers at 11 either. My issue is that we lost the back end in 2015 because of bad programming choices. While Jack was an amazing show, people do not come back for reruns of a serialized action show on a once a week block. While it doesn't cost them anything extra to air Jack and it probably didn't do bad on its own , it's damaging enough to everything else. As far as the bumps go, I've noticed that they basically stay the same throughout each "season" until the next lineup change. Only expect them to chance about 3-4 times per year.
  20. How could they have not seen this was going to be a bad idea? This isn't Toonami's fault. Get rid of Jack or stick it on the back end. We all liked it and enjoyed it, but it's not meant for being at the front end of the block anymore.
  21. I'll wait for Owlchemist to post, but all I have to say is , "You guys like those Jack reruns ?" C'mon guys learn from your mistakes of 2014/15! http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-6-3-2017.html
  22. Remember those 2 shows probably make more money for the network than the others do. I really feel like AS benefiting financially on the TOEI Super deal somehow because of how much TOEI values a TV partner and Jack is all theirs (with sponsorship deals) so they are trying to make as much as they can off it while they can. Hopefully the money made from those 2 offsets any loss in ratings for the rest. It's possible Lupin came cheaper than other things (maybe they will heavily promote the DVD release) hence why 2AM is fine with them. There is a bunch of financial things we're not privy too and can only speculate, but on their end everything is looking good.
  23. This situation with Jack and Super will keep the block from having great ratings most likely. The network has to understand what this is going to do. I think whatever deals they have financially with those two are (in their minds) offsetting the rest of what the block is doing. Simply put, they are making enough money off of those 2 in order to not care about a little loss elsewhere in the block. If it REALLY tanks though. Jack is easily moved since it's totally their property.
  24. I only think that we'll see more of this unless they are willing to move HxH. I rather like the idea though of the 2AM show being something a little older or something that's dub has been available for a while.
  25. That's the only thing that makes sense. I mean, the Wed night encores weren't exactly lighting the world on fire with the ratings. I get that it is incredibly successful, but you can only show something so many times before people get tired of it. Especially with having Sunday and Saturday airing the series in different ways. This isn't like Family Guy where you can just spam it all over the schedule. Let's hope for some kind of surprise at Momocon tomorrow. For all we know, we could get a schedule shakeup on June 17 with Lupin and something else .
