Remember those 2 shows probably make more money for the network than the others do. I really feel like AS benefiting financially on the TOEI Super deal somehow because of how much TOEI values a TV partner and Jack is all theirs (with sponsorship deals) so they are trying to make as much as they can off it while they can. Hopefully the money made from those 2 offsets any loss in ratings for the rest. It's possible Lupin came cheaper than other things (maybe they will heavily promote the DVD release) hence why 2AM is fine with them. There is a bunch of financial things we're not privy too and can only speculate, but on their end everything is looking good.

This situation with Jack and Super will keep the block from having great ratings most likely. The network has to understand what this is going to do. I think whatever deals they have financially with those two are (in their minds) offsetting the rest of what the block is doing. Simply put, they are making enough money off of those 2 in order to not care about a little loss elsewhere in the block. If it REALLY tanks though. Jack is easily moved since it's totally their property.

I only think that we'll see more of this unless they are willing to move HxH. I rather like the idea though of the 2AM show being something a little older or something that's dub has been available for a while.

That's the only thing that makes sense. I mean, the Wed night encores weren't exactly lighting the world on fire with the ratings. I get that it is incredibly successful, but you can only show something so many times before people get tired of it. Especially with having Sunday and Saturday airing the series in different ways. This isn't like Family Guy where you can just spam it all over the schedule. Let's hope for some kind of surprise at Momocon tomorrow. For all we know, we could get a schedule shakeup on June 17 with Lupin and something else .

I know what you mean Ben. I have finally begun to admit to myself that currently, Toonami isn't exciting me anymore, save for a few shows. A few years ago I watched the whole block live every week, now I have half of it sitting on my DVR not watched. I'm not really really not Dragonball anymore, Gundam Unicorn lost me, I've seen these Shippuden and GiTS episodes already. I mostly watch for Jack and HxH, but now one of those is gone. Lupin excites me a little though. The atmosphere of the block (it's presentation) isn't to my liking much anymore either. I really miss "Now/Next/Later" because they were just part of what made Toonami Toonami. It felt like such a integral part of the presentation and made the block fun while showcasing a lot of good music.You can say Guides make them obsolete, but you can say the same thing with "Coming up Next" bumpers as well. The bumps aren't updated as much as they used to be I would also much prefer more goodies over the topicals we've been getting too. Just my thoughts.

At the Momo Con in 2015, they announced both Mitchiko and Hatchin which would come 3 weeks later AND Akame Ga Kill which wouldn't come until August. Depending on what other conventions they plan on doing this summer they mayor may not announce anything show wise. They could give us a better idea about when FLCL is coming or details about this year's TIE. I doubt they would announce a new show for next week there either. They may or may not announce what is happening after Titan which is in mid-late July. Yeah, I'm waiting to see if they intend on rerunning ALL of Jack at 11. It's very possible a surprise show shifts the DB hour to 11 and the Jack rerun moves down. Toonami may not be wanting to give the 11:00 back to the fat man right now. I've gone down this road before, but do you think they'd be crazy enough to premiere Rick and Morty Saturdays at 11? I seriously doubt that, but you never know. I think it would be better on Sundays personally.

They have to announce SOMETHING at Momocon, I hope it's not a case of it originally supposed to be just Lupin, but TMS beat them to it! I feel like Unicorn was a forced acquisition from Sunrise at this point in order to get Gundam. They must have had to have a multi show agreement. Theres no way they picked this up thinking it would do well with casuals, its way to hard to follow. Mob Pyscho is the unknown quantity here. It topped the Demarco poll but has yet to show up despite #2 AND #3 now on the block. They probably are reassessing what they want to do wirh Gundam and Jojo. I'm almost positive Stardust and IBO2 are already paid for at this point. Now they just have to find where a good spot is. I think we are keeping the 11:00 slot with Jack as a placeholder for now in order to keep it for Toonami's use down the line when they need it.

It may, they weren't afraid to do it with Unicorn . We may even see HxH move up to 1 if they don't want to put Lupin there

I'm really curious if FUNimation is just going to release episode 6 dubbed on their site this week despite Toonami taking a week off. I've asked them twice on Twitter and gotten no response. I really hope for Toonami's sake they have it in their contract that they have to run it before they can post it.

Jman about summed it up. It would be wise in the future for Toonami to not have something (Ghoul) that is available fully dubbed on Hulu or Netflix(a lot of people have at least one of those). I mean, if it's on FN or illegal sites, that's one thing because it's not as widespread and easily accessible. I'm having a hard time convincing my wife to not just blow through that show on Hulu and continue to watch it once a week until October It seems that high rating for Jack do not translate to high rating for Super, so in all likelihood, rerunning Jack wont have as much as an effect as we may think. There isn't much compatibility between the viewership bases already (if there was, the rest of the block would be doing great). If anything, there just won't be this massive drop. The trick in the future with any original productions will be making something that has wide range appeal and cross over with the anime viewers. It's not going to be FLCL, which will do great with the anime crowd, but not the general populace.

Ghoul will be over by then too. They'll probably do a Lupin or "whatever show comes after Titan" marathon around Halloween.

I just think that, for whatever reason, right now, the dub of IBO2 isn't quite ready. We've seen certain actors say they are done recording, but it's possible others haven't yet. There are a lot of in demand actors on that show and if one of the key characters hasn't finished then their hands are tied. They could've intended to air it originally on 6/17, but if it wasn't ready, they just went with the next show they had in the cannon. Seems like Lupin was a done deal for a little while based on Discotek's tweet. This is one of those instances where I believe we don't necessarily need to be kept in the dark about. It's basically just more episodes of an existing show, not even a new series technically. It wouldn't really be that earth shattering of an announcement, which is why I'm surprised it just wasn't mentioned in the upfronts. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough but it would be very strange if Toonami didn't air it.

If the block got cut back to 3-3.5 hours, it would be fine if we were left with quality shows. 3 long runners/3 shorter shows/ 1 rerun was a good formula back in 2015. I really don't know what they expect here. It does seem like AS went, "Hey this show did great at 11!! It beat Family Guy most weeks. Why change it ?" While that may work for the weeknight comedy block, the opposite is true for reruns of a seriazlized action program. The best we can really hopefull is on par with how the encores did. Maybe they just don't think it matters because Super isn't getting over a million most weeks at 11:30 so what's the harm? I really think though that FG viewers and DB viewers were more of a compatible audience. But its like anyone with an idea you don't like, you have to just let them try it and if it fails, then they'll change it. I remember attempts in the mid 2000s to put Home Movies back in the 11:00 hour and giving Futurama or FG a rest. They tried it a few times and it would last literally a week or 2 before they had to change it back. Remember ATHF at 8:30 on Saturday last year? 3 weeks and King of the Hill was back. If this doesn't work, it won't go on long.

OK now that I have time to reflect on this: - I don't think this was the best thing they could've done. The ratings will not be as high as the first time around. However, I was talking to Sketch earlier to day on Twitter and he sort of theorized that they may be holding the timeslot for FLCL. We may get more info on this at Momocon. I'd imagine that they will do another full run of Jack (which would take us until mid-August) before that. They do not want to shift the block around but want 11:00 pm to remain part of Toonami. Super hasn't proven itself to be 11:00 material perhaps either. To be completely honest, I don't think FLCL is 11:00 PM material either because it's kinda out there and doesn't have that mainstream appeal. But it's their show that they produced, so I can see the logic. -Another point we touched upon was that the audience for Jack and DB are not as compatible with that of Family Guy. It's entirely possible that this will not affect Super in the slightest because as we've seen, high ratings for Jack do not equal high ratings for Super. Before Jack, Super (and Kai before it) would be affected by how much or little Family Guy did. We may now even see Super gain on Jack. Either way, I don't think it'll affect the rest of the night. If it directly affected the rest of Toonami, we'd be benefiting right now after the huge ratings every week for Jack. -If for some reason it does drag everything down to an unacceptable level, they'll make a change. Unlike Super, they have some level of control here.

It's staying on course. They are just rerunning the same episode at 8 for 2 weeks.

I think by sometime next week, the picture will become clearer. We're still at the part of the schedule that we normally wouldn't see. Currently the schedule shows an episode of Bob's at 3:30 on May 27th. We know now that it's wrong because the Jack marathon is going to 4AM. What's weird is, there is no reason that June 3rd should be blanked out unless something is changing schedule wise. I don't think it would be big news if it was just Jack rerunning or Family Guy returning to 11:00 and the rest of the lineup staying the same. Something is probably happening that they still don't want us to know about. It's possible they want to save an announcement for either the Upfronts or maybe Momocon (but that's unlikely because it's only a week before). HxH taking a break is a possibility I suppose if they only got 52 episodes in the initial batch, but this isn't an opportune time to do it right in the middle of an arc! Too long of a break and there may be an issue getting that audience back On the other hand, brining a long runner back after a break is a sort of cheat to get it a better timeslot!

The schedule for June 3rd is out and it again is blanked out. However, I don't think it is correct at this point. 8:00 Dragonball Super Episode 21 (NEW) 11:00 Jack season 5, episode 2 Scary possibilities of Jack rerunning at 11 and Super's 8 getting ahead of Toonami's airing still loom, but I'm going to be positive and chalk it up to an error at this point. It doesn't make sense at this point because if Jack was getting another run at 11, it would be at episode 1 again. So we'll just have to wait and see when it is finally updated. We may be in for some kind of change they don't want us to know about yet. It is very possible that something could show up during upfronts next week. Whenever the press release comes out- check under new acquisitions, that's how we found out about IBO last year! The actual marathon day schedule is still blanket out and incorrect at this point.

We should know tomorrow if June 3rd is just a 11pm-less regular lineup or something new (blanked out schedule) Tomorrow also should have the Memorial Day marathon schedule finalized to include a 3:30 Jack (it still has Bob's Burgers there right now) Either way it should indicate what they plan on doing with Super for those 2 weeks. It would be a disaster if somehow they let 8pm get ahead of 11:30, but I'd like to think they are smarter than that. Personally I'm on the fence about whether I want to keep 11:00. I'd like to see a new show in there (not a Jack rerun please), but not at the detriment of the block's ratings. I'm not sure if Toonami can survive with an 11:00 start time if there no new episodes of Jack. As far as Mob goes, I'd be fine with that one, but I really wish Toonami could go for something who's dub isn't already out in the wild (my term for illegal streaming sites )
