  1. You’re right about that. We don’t live in a world where there’s a Japanese audience and the only people who can see a show before an American television airing are torrentors. You can’t wait around for a year (or even months with simuldubs) for them to decide if “the show is any good” before deciding to air it. You have to take a risk sometimes. I don’t know if Toonami knows the audience it wants to serve anymore. The availability of shows in one format or another makes the block antiquated for anime fans and still not mainstream for the “normies” who are a dwindling base, especially with no comedy lead in. I think they need more industry people or people on staff who can research things as they are being produced in Japan to make deals before they start to get things going when popularity is rising. Of course, the lack of staff or budget is a concern. But they have to start asking themselves if they want to be the trendsetters or a low budget nick at nite for anime. Maybe the CR deal will help with that
  2. That would be best. Do they HAVE to rerun it right now right after a marathon? it would be best to rerun it at 2am closer to when the 2nd cour starts. They really need to jump on these shows now while their popularity is still on the rise, not until their deemed worthy by the crew after they end. Nothing ventured nothing gained
  3. I agree, this business of “waiting to see if it’s good” doesn’t work when you have a readily streamable dub. By the time a year goes by, no one is really into it anymore plus you aren’t even airing something that people can’t see elsewhere. That’s what’s happened with MHA, they wanted to see if it was just a fad or will it remain popular. Well it is, but now they are so far behind it just does mediocre
  4. They have the most abrupt endings. There’s no epilogue at all. The second they get together- credits roll- on to the next. Another thing that gets me is they usually have the same actors over and over again. There’s also almost no diversity- all white people.
  5. My wife watches every one. She’s part of the problem. She’s on 34 though. The damn things are so formulaic with a guy and girl who don’t get along but get together at the end after some minor conflict. Also there to help is some older person who “knows a thing or two about love”, usually played by an aging former star. Since its November, add in “The magic of Christmas” and you have a tear jerker for the whole family! It always causes problems with the DVR on Saturday. Maybe Toonami should lead into by these
  6. Mitch didn’t include MHA in the update to Showbuzz, but I put in a request for it along with telling him the lineup starts at 10 now!
  7. I like that the Super rerun is picking up some steam in the ratings. I think people are finally starting to realize its on and its being accepted as part of the lineup!
  8. I wouldn’t say they are watching live on the app and it’s overtaking the television, I think it’s just not people wanting to watch live at all and DVRs are becoming more prevelant, at least for the premieres. You don’t see a drop off much for the reruns because those are actually the people staying on live. Personally, I seldom can watch live and will actually watch the entire recorded block on Sunday night/Monday morning due to my work schedule. Sometimes I’m still watching the previous weeks block on Saturday morning. Cable has declined, but live viewership for those who do have cable has also taken a huge hit because it’s just not as necessary or convenient
  9. Nobody should be upset by them for sure.
  10. Nobody should be upset by them for sure.
  11. I’m hoping too. It would be a shame if it’s capped out because of what comes before it
  12. This will be a trend unfortunately even as people become less adverse to subs. Toonami will still have its place as a showcase for good shows to screen for the general public for awhile though
  13. I think they should try to do the reruns on Sunday to get it in front of a different audience rather than the audience that just watched it.
  14. It’s very possible that this wasn’t IBOs original replacement. Whatever it was most likely wasn’t going to air at 11:30. They were all set to keep that slot as an “FLCL” slot for now leading into Progressive. That changed quickly once they secured MHA. It may have been in the works for awhile but they possibly weren’t planning on running it until after Kai was done.
  15. So the only question is will Funimation try and one up Toonami by streaming the dub first. This had SUCH good potential if only it wasn’t airing on Sunday!
  16. I hope that Toonami has a first rights deal with this. I can definitely see Funimation doing a same day dub with it and if Toonami gets it on a delay just because of the day it airs, it could further splinter the seemingly impatient AoT audience. Even being behind her sub last year took some of the wind out of the sails for the viewers who just couldn’t wait. Much of the cast is in LA, so that may not make a sane day dub possible. Most likely, they’ll get it in a similar set up to last year. The contract that they got was very protective to not allow Funimation to stream ahead. For a show like this, you have to try and get a deal like that. its too bad that they have no ability to air a small block on Sunday nights in order to do this same day.
  17. They should just keep it going to troll us. But if I said didn’t look at Facebook every hour for the last month I’d be lying 😀. We’ll all get excited and they announce the return of SJ season 5 and the lineup shifting again
  18. Wanna take any guesses about when that news comes out? It HAS to be this week you'd think?
  19. I think when taking DVR into account Super dominates Family Guy, because who is recording Family Guy?
  20. Also of note, no further episodes have been scheduled so far
  21. Attack on Titan Season 3, then Made In Abysss in the fall
  22. There’s also a Funimation stream of it starting on May 8th. I don’t think that a home video release is a big deal, but a stream is. A lot of people seem to be excited to watch this show in English and if Toonami doesn’t start it first, most of the attention will be there. But then again, I don’t think it matters much from a ratings perspective, it’s just that it would be nice if Toonami could have a dub premiere so viewers have something brand new to watch
  23. I think this could be a good replacement for Space Dandy when the time comes. I’m pretty sure Gundam Wing is coming at some point so it would make a good pairing with that. Definitely not the 12:30 AM timeslot, it’s not going to engage the Shonen audience since it’s a drama
  24. It should get a run, just a little more towards the back. It kind of has a retro look to it that probably won’t do well up front. And yes, that’s how people are unfortunately
  25. Only if he’s also voiced by Bryce! Are all the girls in love with him and he’s perfect at everything?
