You’re arguing something that no one is arguing.  Wladimir Koppen starting defining climate regions dating back to 1884. There doesn’t have to be a specific book. Or wtf it is you’re looking for because even if it was found you would just claim something else.

When the ice in the north melts past a certain acceptable point in a given season, it lowers the temps in the ocean which in turn allows the arctic air to travel further north than it normally would and linger longer. This leads to frost and ice in areas that normally wouldn't have to worry about that sort of thing. Visualize it as a small egg being cracked open at the top of the planet and the yolk slowly coating downwards.
