Still, later is better than never, and while I've already seen this subbed and dubbed once, and been enjoying Mr Tommo's coverage, I will happily watch Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War again here with everyone! This is going to be awesome! Oh, I'm ready! 1 Quote
Mr. Idea Box Posted Sunday at 04:59 AM Posted Sunday at 04:59 AM Well, guess I don't have to make that thread myself. With that said, this is clearly where most of the acquisition budget went. And I don't even blame them for that. 2 1 Quote
DangerMouse Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM Posted Sunday at 05:03 AM (edited) Someone put together a dub version of the first teaser trailer. Edited Sunday at 05:04 AM by DangerMouse 1 Quote

Yeah, I'm fine even if Demarco had to sell his left kidney to get Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. 😄 Edited Sunday at 08:30 AM by ben0119 Quote
DangerMouse Posted Sunday at 05:09 AM Posted Sunday at 05:09 AM (edited) And the official part 1 dub trailer for the digital and limited edition release of part 1 (slightly more spoilery, but not much) Spoiler Edited Sunday at 05:31 AM by DangerMouse 1 Quote

So this was pretty great that someone took the real dub audio and put one together. Edited Sunday at 05:33 AM by DangerMouse 1 Quote

Yes, there are some sound alikes, particularly for JYB with the guy who played Soul from Soul Eater (a show inspired by Bleach that was referred to as Bleach Lite, ironically,) and the guy who played Food Wars' Soma, but I'm glad it didn't come to that. Seems like pretty much everyone who is still active is back. Too bad about Akon, Shinji, and Hiyori though. Though Hiyori already had like 3 different voices. 😄 Quote

I'm glad fans were in the clutch to fill in gaps for the trailers. Quote
Jman Posted Sunday at 02:26 PM Posted Sunday at 02:26 PM It’s more like Toonami is catching Hulu’s sloppy seconds, but at this point they’ll take what they can get. Quote
PokeNirvash Posted Sunday at 02:40 PM Posted Sunday at 02:40 PM Hey, acquisitions are acquisitions, and that's all that matters after the drought of this past four months. Quote

I won't be watching, but I might be if I didn't have BE and Lazarus (and Fate/UBW?) to supremely catch up on. [yippee, 3000th post!] Quote

There is actually quite a long list of recasts, mostly among the minor cast, as quite a few VAs from this show who were small time in the mid 00s are now big time and anime dubbing isn’t worth it to them anymore. There has also unfortunately been a few recasts due to VA deaths. I think the most interesting one is that David Lodge did express an interest of reprising Kenpachi, but was not contacted. So the bad blood on that runs deep. And then strangely, Yoruichi was recast with zero contact or consent from Wendee Lee, which with the help of Twitter got the recast unrecasted and Wendee Lee back into her role. All Yoruichi lines are re-recorded by her, but the initial release of the dub has her voiced by a different person. This chart indicates Dave Mallows retirement as the cause for his recast, but in March he passed away, so it would have had to happen regardless even if he reprised in 2023. Quote
Top Gun Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I could not tell you that 90% of those characters existed in the first place. Such is Bleach. 1 Quote
