Mode 7 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I played Super Metroid the other day and now I'm playing A Link To The Past. What more can I say about these games that hasn't already been said about them. Two of the greatest games of all time and certainly two of my all time favorite games. With that being said I have do have a minor complaint I want to make about both games because they both do the same annoying thing. Whenever get an item the game stops and a text appears telling you how to use said item. It have no problem with that if it's the first time I finding the item but every time I find the same item I've been using the entire game I have sit through a text explaining to me on how to use it, especially very late into the game. It's actually funny when you think about it. You're on your way to the final boss and pick up an item and you get an explanation on how to use it Imagine playing Super Mario. Bros and every time you get a Fire Flower the game stops to explain to you on how to use the Fire Flower. It doesn't matter that Bowser is a few steps away 1 Quote
Insipid Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'm interested in reading this book called Caste that compares the caste system in India to Nazi Germany and racism in America. It is interesting to note that Martin Luther King Jr. went to India and was deeply influenced by his experience there. It's such a shame that these kind of correlations are considered niche and only are brought up at the college level, which is increasingly becoming less valued in this country. "Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed." MLK Jr. Quote
Doom Metal Alchemist Posted March 27 Posted March 27 It just occurred to me that like no political social media posts end with "Let that sink in," anymore. 2 Quote

Mode 7 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 (edited) I don't think I've heard anyone in person that's ever called the NES the NES. People have always called the NES the Nintendo. Same thing with the SNES, I've never heard anyone call it the SNES in person it was called the Super Nintendo. Granted online I'll type NES and SNES because it's easier to type NES and SNES but in person I'll always say Nintendo and Super Nintendo. Edited March 29 by Mode 7 1 1 Quote

UwPp Posted March 30 Posted March 30 11 days until my vacation. 1 funeral to attend in between. Plus moving all my shit to the basement because my gma (who's turning 94 tuesday) is moving in with us. Who keeps telling me she's going to die soon and she can feel it in her bones and it'll only be a few more months. I need tires, but hopefully they'll get me to and from Florida. ... Mode 7 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) I keep getting approached by the butcher about him training me on how to be butcher. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Someone else wants that position and don't want it to seem like I went behind his back to take it when I was the one who was being approached about. But on the other hand this could mean more money for me and a new learning experience. I can add butcher experience to my resume. And plus this would probably improve my cooking skills on cutting meat properly. I have a lot to think about we'll see what happens. Also do women like a man who knows a lot about meat? Doom Metal Alchemist Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Things/topics that are common in Seinfeld but pretty much nowhere else on TV: Dry cleaner's Cuban cigars Seriously, in the Seinfeld universe, way, way, WAY more people smoke Cuban cigars than cigarettes. 1 Quote

André Toulon Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) Jim Traber needs to retire from sports radio. He get sucked into Internet bullshit, broadcasts it like its fact, then can't admit he got trolled. He got on the radio and said "did you hear LeBron is retiring after the season". The cohost is like "wut, I've literally not heard that anywhere" So Trabe is like "its on bronny's X, I'll pull it up"....The cohost sat there, waited for him to old man search his bogus topic, then told him its a fake account. Did Trabe bow out gracefully.....Of course not, he then goes on a dementia fueled rant about April's fools. Like dude, it wasn't even an April fool's joke...its just a fake account posting fake news and you're the moron following it. Just retire, bro....The technology is broken 🤦🏿♂️ Edited April 3 by André Toulon 2 Quote

Jman Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Amazon apparently does deliveries at 4am. I heard my doorbell ring, and I went outside with a bat thinking it was a thief or something. Instead it was some delivery driver. I had to apologize for having a weapon, but come on, 4am?! 2 Quote

Jman Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Last night I got a call from Amazon’s incident report team about the whole “going to their driver at 4am with a weapon”, deal. They understood I thought it was a thief, apologized and de-escalated as per their official report, but you never feel good after doing an incident report, even if they make it clear it was a misunderstanding and everyone understands. 1 Quote

Mode 7 Posted Monday at 11:10 PM Posted Monday at 11:10 PM So last week I found out that MeTv Toons has been available over the air in Detroit since last October. Better late than never I guess. My first impressions is that it does feel like checker board era of CN which is my era btw. However I'm not exactly in love with the scheduling of these shows but at the day as much as I'm going to rock with MeTv Toons it's not going to be my exclusive option to watch classic cartoons. I also rock with Tubi, Pluto TV and YouTube. Someone uploaded the entire series of the Smurfs and there's classic cartoons that's uploaded to YouTube so there's another option. And there's always the outlaw sites to watch classic cartoons. I just love the options you have to watch cartoons and this is going to be a very fun ride. 1 Quote

André Toulon Posted Wednesday at 08:35 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:35 AM Like...assuming i had the money, could i just go commit myself to a retirement home and have people do shit for me. I mean, pretty soon, 80s babies are gonna be in there and I'm sure video games will be introduced into the community. Im might not have thought this completely through, but I dont see a down side as long as i dont actually "need" someone to wash my ass for me. 2 Quote

I don't understand the whole "mom's basement" living situation. The entire time I lived with my parents, I just stayed in the room I grew up in. Why go to the basement when your room is already RIGHT THERE? Quote
