Okay, so I have to buy a house, buy a car, pay somebody to drive it for me, marry a gold digger, get saddled with kids and spend every summer on Gotland before I'm an actual person?  Who is really being materialistic here?

Cognitive dissonance, misogyny, admission to an inability to operate common machinery...not sure who spends every summer in Gotland, but I'm sure the reasoning for choosing it is somehow steeped in idiocy. 

All so we can marvel at the fact he was negotiated out of his pension and offered a cease and desist settlement in lieu of retirement to stop bothering corporate with the back injury he caused himself for somehow improperly using a rolling garbage bin.

I hear this kind of rhetoric a lot from dumb fucks that bought into their employer's bullshit and made it a source of pride to stay somewhere shitty for so long. Maybe those "lazy people" just decided it wasn't worth it after a single summer stint in dookie town and moved on to greener pastures.

It's their loss.  The money I'm getting now is funded in part by people who don't stay long enough to vest.  Whether a person works ten years or just ten hours, the employer is still paying into the system. 

 

As for the few people who actually do move on to better things, they're usually just there to tide over a gap.  One in particular was a welder who got tired of working construction and was looking for welding work in a production shop.  He found it, but it took three years.

Coping with the harsh reality you were actually under qualified for the job you kept for thirty years because no one else was dumb enough to make it a career.

What even makes you think the company has any say over my pension?  They don't own the account.  The union does.  The company is allowed only to make deposits into it, not withdrawal from, close or otherwise redirect the money.
