ITN: Solar Apocolypse to doom us all, or just make pretty colors in the sky

Basically, the largest solar storm since 2005 is going to hit Earth tonight. There's risk of power outages and stuff, but the most likely outcome is that the Aurora is going to be visible from huge chunks of America. And by huge, I mean basically anyone north of the gulf coast actually has a chance to see the aurora tonight.

 

If you live somewhere with clear skies head outside tonight and look north. You actually might be able to see the Aurora.

Its been super cloudy here all week, and now its bright blue skies. Im really hoping this holds. Im right on the edge of where they think we should be able to see it.

no, but just dumped about 45 mins. really hoping it blows out.

it cleared up around 9 and i had forgotten this was happening, for a moment. i looked up to see a pink sky with the "strobe lights" effect:       NIGHT OF THE COMET

i haven't seen the lights since i was a kid in vt. i remember the stepmonster and i were the only ones in the house, and we were watching some alien show, the signal was going in and out, so she told me to climb on the roof and adjust the antenna (IYKYK) i got up there and the white and green and blues and about blew my mind, and  AND i thought we were being invaded at the same time. looking back, i was a pretty stupid kid sometimes. LOL. 

 

tl:dr absolutely breathtaking down this was (low country/savannah river area)

I just checked and I think we are seeing some of it here. Theres a little sunset haze still, but it sure looks like theres this greenish pinkish thing just north of me in the sky.

It was incredible out here. I stood outside for a couple of hours watching it. Just crazy to see the sky moving like that. Never seen anything like that in my life.

 

Now I want to go to Iceland and watch it up there

Disappointed but maybe tonight since this is supposed to be going on until Monday

absolutely gorgeous here. i cleaned the patio off, (a day late)

while sky watching, saw that trail of lights that have become so familiar. 

the sad thing is, if you are a star watcher, and look for 'pretty pictures in the cosmos' *, you will notice there are quite a few more 'dots', that don't fit the constellation maps.

so word on the 'street', is that HAARP did this. again (?)

now, i thought they were disbanded in 2013, but they had a research thing last year that would cause some unusual light, in the area. 

but 'they' are saying this is HAARP. 

HFW that can be controlled, at least in the northern hemisphere of the planet?
