Excuse me, but St. Anger would like a word with you.

You misunderstand, the Black Album was the point where Metallica went from innovator to hair-band-in-disguise.

St. Anger was ass.

In the world of Metallica, yes, it was ass. As a standalone album, it was….something.

I am the king of misunderstanding. Haven’t we established this by now?

My point is that the Black Album is when the wheels fell off.  By St Anger, they couldn’t go much lower.

I honestly do agree with you, for the most part. Most bands do seem to lose a part of themselves when their work starts to become more mainstream, unfortunately.

It’s not a bad album, but you can really tell the difference.  MoP and AJfA…have raw authenticity that belies the less-than-polished sound.  The Black Album has the polish, and lyrics that some studio exec and producer thought would get radio play.  It’s as close to a Faustian bargain you can get in modern rock.

Seeing Halloween decorations up in mid-September makes me angry.

Not as angry as Xmas decorations in mid-October.

Okay, let’s see if I can trigger anyone with this opinion.

There is (objectively) no such thing as a “bad” song. But “Cake By The Ocean” comes dangerously fucking close.

I'm guessing that you've never heard "All about that bass" by Meghan Trainor :LithiumSmileyIndifferent:

You've clearly forgotten about this monstrosity. (I know it's a parody...probably. It's still just ear-bleedingly awful.)

I honestly did not know that this existed until now

There's nothing wrong with a woman fucking around to get to the top. That's how Wu Zetian became the only female emperor in China's history.

@Insipid  is this true?

Yes, Wu Zetian started as a prostitute, or excuse me, courtesan. She even had her own dynasty during the Tang Dynasty, which is considered by many Sinic scholars to be the greatest Chinese dynasty.

Oh ghostie, this is rather common knowledge among history buffs, although maybe you're more focused on Western history.

@Insipid not Western history but focused on military history. I know Sun Tsu's Art of War I own two copies.  But the truth is you can't know everything about history and yes I think I have heard about this but I just thought the sleeping around thing was a rumor. I mean there are some areas of military history I don't know like the military history of the Holy Roman Empire which sounds like a headache because anything dealing with the Holy Roman Empire is a headache. complicated

Is this the oldest known tentacle hentai?

I dunno. I asked ChatGPT for you.

Yes, The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife (Tako to Ama, 1814), a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Hokusai, is often considered one of the earliest known depictions of erotic imagery involving tentacles. While not explicitly part of modern hentai, it laid the foundation for the later tentacle trope found in Japanese erotic art.

The image portrays an intimate encounter between a woman and two octopuses, and it's part of a larger tradition of shunga, which were erotic art prints popular during the Edo period in Japan. Although The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife predates the term "hentai" by over a century, it’s frequently cited as an early example of what would later influence certain aspects of erotic manga and anime, particularly in the tentacle genre.

@Insipid ok ?

Wu Zetian was probably the most powerful woman to have ever lived, but the fascinating thing is that may soon change in a few months, with another woman that has Asian descent.

Ok, that's enough East Asian anthropology.
