He’s running again in Amityville. Maybe he’ll visit the Horror house and get swallowed up by it. The $$ is too good for him to give it up. He likes robbing people and there’s no shortage of people who like to be robbed, apparently.

Do people not need to live in the districts they represent, even if it’s a short amount of time?  Anyway I gotta believe he doesn’t have a chance. Voters saw how ridiculous he was and hopefully he won’t get enough signatures to get on the ballot.

Federal representatives do not have to live in the district, though they mostly do due to the politics.

At least in NY, statehouse members must live in their district. The exception of incumbents that got booted out of their district in redistricting. They get the one cycle to move back into the district.

Do you think he really gaf about splitting the vote?  I’m thinking he didn’t want to embarrass himself when hardly anyone votes for him, or he simply couldn’t afford to run.

95/5 is a split

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. George Santos pleaded guilty Monday to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, short-circuiting the federal fraud case that led to his expulsion from Congress just weeks before it was set to go to trial.

“I betrayed the trust of my constituents and supporters. I deeply regret my conduct,” the New York Republican said as he entered the plea in a Long Island courtroom.

Santos, 36, said he accepted responsibility and intends to make amends. He faces more than six years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines and owes at least $370,000 in restitution.

Senior Federal Judge Joanna Seybert scheduled Santos’ sentencing for Feb. 7.

Santos was indicted on felony charges that he stole from political donors, used campaign contributions to pay for personal expenses, lied to Congress about his wealth and collected unemployment benefits while actually working.

CENTRAL ISLIP, New York — A federal judge on Friday sentenced disgraced former Rep. George Santos to more than seven years in prison for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in a case that resulted in his expulsion from Congress and capped a colorful flameout for the first-term Republican.

The 87-month sentence for Santos, who wept as it was announced, comes after a memorable one-year stint in Congress in which he was exposed, in prosecutors’ words, as a “pathological liar and fraudster.”

In imposing the lengthy sentence, U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert decried his “flagrant thievery,” describing him as “an arrogant fraudster talking out of both sides of his mouth.”

His voice shaking, Santos told the court, “I betrayed the confidence entrusted to me by constituents, donors, colleagues and this court.”

He must report to prison by July 25. Seybert also ordered him to pay more than $373K in restitution, due immediately, and to serve two years supervised release.

...

In a letter to the court, Santos argued that he is “profoundly sorry for the criminal conduct to which I pled guilty,” but that he had the right to “protest” the Justice Department’s request for the lengthy sentence. Santos himself suggested he serve two years, the legal minimum for one of the counts to which he pleaded guilty.

In the first few minutes of Friday’s sentencing, the judge took aim at both Santos’ criticism of the Justice Department, calling the case “hardly a vindictive government prosecution” and his plea for the lightest sentence available, telling him curtly, “that’s not going to be possible.”

Santos was on a whole other level of villainy. Almost comical in a way.  I just smh after reading one of the witnesses was a war veteran trying to save his dog. Santos helped him set the a gofundme for the vet bills. Santos stole the $ and the dog died. Dude got the last laugh watching Santos cry over his 7 year (if my math is correct but it never is) sentence.

How long until Trump pardons him?
