here's the thing though rightstuf has been struggling a lot since the start of this year...staff shortages and just overall having a difficult time keeping up with most orders

Why make some money when you can make all of it?

Granted, sellers of erotica must go elsewhere as Right Stuff will no longer sell it.  (They’re opening a sister site called EroAnimeZone).

and let's be honest....who the hell buys anything from the crunchyroll store?

people talk about buying from rightstuf  you don't hear anyone say "I'm buying this from crunchyroll!"

Well it's a good thing this is a case of "Crunchyroll now owns Right Stuf" and not "Right Stuf has gone the way of FUNimation and is now Crunchyroll also", then.

I'd occasionally buy stuff from FUNi's own store when they had big bundle deals during holiday sales and such. If they have the same deals there I'd buy there too.

As the resident pervert, I've seen multiple people concerned about them suddenly throwing all the adult stuff in this hidden shack out in the woods. The porn store's not even open yet and their FAQ says it won't be for weeks; that's just poor planning at best or sabotage at worst. This shouldn't have been announced until the sister site was launched and its store ready to take orders. There are people with orders in limbo who now have to wait god knows how long for the individual items to be split between two companies (that's not going to be a quick or simple process, I'm sure), who can't even cancel and get their money back because this new place didn't get the chance to port over those transactions into their system before this was announced, and no word on how long that will take. Throw in the fact that adult sites have had issues with getting payment processors to work with them, and this site could easily die off before all the dust has settled. I've seen people worry that it's an excuse to ditch all the adult content, wait for it fail, and then just shrug because it's not their fault the customers didn't show up.

Sidenote, really not sure how much Crunchyroll is actually gonna help with any staffing issues. "Come work in a bluray warehouse in the middle of Bumblefuck, Iowa!" is gonna be a tough sell no matter whose name is on the paycheck.

I don't have many thoughts about this other than I was a wee lass pirating anime on Crunchyroll back in the day and this shit still feels weird. Not like I morally care. More like I'm still taken aback at rare moments by how far Crunchyroll has come from where it started. I want to go back in time and show Past Me this headline just to mess with her.

Well, there goes Gundam?

...maybe?

IIRC Toonami licensed the last several Gundam series directly from Sunrise. If they get Witch of Mercury, they'll likely get it through them too.

Gundam is on a lot of channels, but I kept getting the sinking feeling they’re about to throw their lot in with Netflix for airing their materials given that’s where both Hathaway and the (admittedly terrible, horrible, no good, very bad sounding) live action movie are.

for anyone who wants an alternative to rightstuf

I've been seeing comments about "Takara's cafe" although it's a very small company and it only deals with manga(no anime dvds/blu-rays or anything else that isn't manga)

They be mergin', and people are understandably concerned. Apparently TRSI's shipping operations have taken a level in suck-ass since the acquisition, and who knows if this will make things any better.

I do love that absolutely no one has anything positive to say about the needless piece of corporate synergizing.  Right Stuff predates the internet!

Even though I started ordering from them well after they had a website, I used to love getting their physical catalogs in the mail. Complete with the sealed-shut 18+ section. :D

You gotta love poorly dated comments from over a year ago.
