Bouvre Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino. There's something magical about its lyricism and imagination. There's a sense of wonder even in its darker moments. It shook me out of my post-high-school despondency and I thank it every day for that 1
Sieg67 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Out of the 6 books I have read since HS, I guess 1984. I actually got fairly engrossed in it which is hard for me to do with books. Pride Prejudice and Zombies is a strong contender due the the silliness.

I hated it. The entire book was boring except the chapter about Room 101 but I still hated that chapter because it just seemed fucked up to me. And I hated the ending too.
Still Me Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 the great Gatsby, it was beautifully tragic. It starts so hopeful and ends so shit
Sofa King Kule Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 They're all great. I'm not picking a favorite. Did you know that "Interview With The Vampire" is different from the movie version?

Orwell sure knew what he was talking about.

As for me, I agree - there are too many to pick a favorite. Vonnegut, Zamyatin, Orwell, Tolkien, O'Rourke, Frank, Thurber, Poe,...
