resurrected Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 As much of a pain in the ass as it would be, you could always put a little piece of duct tape on them. 1

RainyDayJizz#35 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Rubber bands can be a quick fix too and you can get the satisfaction of annoying the cat. 2

You put the rubber bands around the knobs. Did you think I was talking about shooting rubber bands at her or something? Edited September 19, 2020 by RainyDayJizz#35 1

katt_goddess Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Is it all cabinets or just certain ones? If it's just ones with the kitty foods in them, placing the bags in plastic containers usually curbs the interest after awhile. If it's everything, kitty curiosity will never be stopped! NEVAH! Another voice for the rubber band option if your cabinets have knobs like the ones already posted. It's a cheap experiment to see if you can move the kitty away from explorer time without having to go out and buy a bunch of baby locks. If you want to try magnets, skip epoxy. Get some of those 3M sticky strips and magnets [ preferably the thin type you can cut that has a sticky back of its own but you can use the cheap fridge magnets some business hand out as advertising too ] . Attach the magnet bits to the 'Object' side of the 3M sticky and the 'Wall' side to the various spots you need them and go. You'll be able to remove the magnets later that way instead of your apartment manager finding out about your renovations during an inspection. 1
stilgar Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 One kick and they will never open a cabinet again.
Mini_ghost420 Posted September 19, 2020 Author Posted September 19, 2020 she goes in all the cabinets. but the only one I care about is the bathroom one where I keep cleaning products. she can go in the other ones. but she's been ignoring them since she got her cat tree. I just made the mistake of opening it in front of her so it's a "new area" she thinks she has to explore. I'm gonna try magnets and epoxy thing it seems like a good idea. they're more like handles than knobs so the pic scoob showed wouldn't work

I took a pic of a general mock-up to help with this crappy description. Two rubber bands. Each one threaded through the handles so the 'loop' parts are all in the center facing each other. Hold with a small chip clip or clothes pin as the lock in the center. Worst case scenario, kitty decides that's the best toy in the history of ever but only when it's being pulled at in the middle of the night. 2
Mini_ghost420 Posted September 20, 2020 Author Posted September 20, 2020 I'll try that to looks fun to make even if it doesn't work

I had this bag of rubber bands on a shelf and three nights in a row I came home to rubber bands strewn everywhere. So coming home to her sitting in the mess made me laugh, so I shot them around her for a while and put them in a drawer after. I left a few out for her to play with, watching her play with hair ties and rubber bands is hilarious. She tosses them by herself and tries to snatch them in the air. I had to leave her with my parents and they have these little costume pearls she loves now. She can grab them in her paws and really chuck them to chase after. That cat is a master of entertaining herself, such a personality on her. The last time I saw her she was super happy to see me but I had to get a swat and a hiss for leaving her. And she is not forgiving, so that swat came with a set of claws she sharpens on wood. 2

When I showed it to them she full on attacked my hand, no play. And then she stared at me and growled. "Don't ask me to attack you jerk!" A sweetie pie with more balls than a tom. 1

After her two week adventure away from home she loves eating cicadas. And they may as well fly into her mouth if they're within three feet. My little sister would just bring animals home and I ended up with her because no one could handle her. So I dunno if she was wild or what. We actually had a weird relationship, I was around for a few months when she was a kitten and I moved out. Not long after I was hearing things about getting rid of her for being a pain. So I took her and we had fun for a year and then my life went all topsy turvy again. I really want to see her before she dies, she has to be at least 12 now. Little miss smarty pants isn't gonna forget me though. I guess I can allow anger since she's a cat and all. 1
