I still havent been able to start Call of Cthulhu. It's the next short story in my hp lovecraft book. I'm too intimidated. Then the power went out one night. I lit a bunch of candles, gathered a bowl of cherries, and sat down ready to read it in the dark silence. Then the power came on just as I was about to start and I couldn't just begin like that.

And yesterday, I bought the City of Ember, a book about people living underground in a dying city with many blackouts.

Perfect.

Fun fact!  I started re-reading "The Stand" around March, before all this shit happened

I started reading some h.p lovecraft last month. Only did 2 stories so far. The Dreams in the witch House, and The shadow over Innsmouth. I felt that Witch House was the better story. Innsmouth kinda has a lot of the piss taken out of it because the twist is so well known by this point that it's fish people. The story mainly banks on you being horrified by the idea of Fish People. Kind of an issue with lovecraft and King. They bank on you being freaked out by fish/bugs as much as they are, that they don't fully go into detail why they're horrifying; because just the idea of fish/bugs are horrifying enough to their imagination. Really if it weren't for all the fanart that lovecraft gets, I'd have assumed the deep ones looked more like the fish in spongebob from how they're described. It's like bro you just described a fish with arms and legs with slippery white bellies.

Junji Ito I think wins on fucked up fish stories. Witch house though had a lot more messed up stuff going on than innsmouth imho. Really don't know why innsmouth is ranked so high always in the top 3 stories. Witch house ends up in like 12th-8th in rankings. I assume because it doesn't really tie into the cuthulhu lore as strongly.

It's a great read

Never liked the Stand myself. I was in my teens though when I was reading King books, so that might play into it. I just remember it being a chore to get through.

Flagg is an Antagonist in the Dark Tower Series, and in a few of his other Novels

The Stand sticks out to me because it's Good Vs Evil and the World doesn't know it per say.  That and Kojak (The Dog) saves Stu before Tom finds him

Also the guy that played Tom Collins was the guy that voiced Patrick in "SpongeBob", and Stu was "Lt. Dan"

Flagg kinda goes out like a bitch for all the trouble he gives the gunslinger. Then again he did get hit with a nuke. Kinda a shitty way to just remove a threat. I mean lets take every King story then just have a Nuke go off to remove the antagonist. The overlook hotel, replace the boiler with a nuke better story. You can't tell me that Cujo wouldn't have been a much better story if the dog was killed in a nuclear blast. It's just a really easy and plausible solution to all of Kings stories.

I honestly could never watch the stand mini-series all the way through. It was more boring than the book. Yeah Bill Fagerbakke also played Dauber in Coach.

You wanna know something stupid, when I was in jail a month this guy was bringing these Left Behind books and I actually enjoyed them cause I enjoy biblical apocalyptic shit. And they're like teen level so they're easy reads, I read like nine of them in two weeks.i should finish that series, the end is surely awful in some way. Or maybe it's fun. That would be cool.

@DBZ4ever and I have had countless discussions about this

I think it's because after he got hit by a car he felt like he had to rush the last couple books

King is self aware that he craps the bed on his endings. Ironically the It film adaptations would actually have made more sense if they'd just introduce that god damn giant god turtle!
