scripted languages are interpreted. programming languages are complied. also, no one ever codes an entire enterprise application in a straight scripting language.

well if you were bi you could code it in a scripting language and a programming language

I guess I'm technically pansexual.

Really I want to learn C bc I want to learn a low language. Since I'm just doing it for my own fun, the challenge, and understanding, I wouldn't mind learning about things like memory management even if you don't need to worry about that anymore bc theres higher languages that inherently take care of it. I'm not going to be doing anything for money, so it doesn't matter if it'd be easier to finish things w/a higher language. Does that make sense or do you think that's dumb?

there's never anything ever dumb about wanting to learn something to better yourself, and don't believe anyone who tells you any different. C is VERY widely used, the only thing with it is that a lot of the programs that still use it are legacy. Not like that's a problem, but if you want to learn it you'll want to learn ANSI C because that'll likely be the lowest common denominator for C wherever you go. I mean you could learn K&R C, but really I don't think you need to do that unless you know that you'll need it.

That's original fiction. Make it Inuyasha's Naraku, and you've got so many porny options because he already looks like a hentai monster. Unless you're Naraku with fictional Naraku's body, then it's self-insert fanfiction. Live your dream and be a hentai monster.

@Poof just to be clear I gave this post a like because I very much agree with the opening sentiment. As far as how valuable C is and which versions over which, I don't fucking know, so I'm not either agreeing or disagreeing with him there.

Well I don't really need any of it. What would you need K&R for? Like if other projects you were working on used it?

it's a convention of C before it was standardized in ANSI. like K&R is used for really reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally old programs. unless you're going to work on anything that hasn't been updated since like 1989, it's doubtful that you'll need it
