Anyone remember being young in the 80's?

  1. 1. When did you realize you were old?

    • When you brought up Rocko's Modern Life and no one knew what you were talking about
      2
    • When you stopped caring about cutting edge trends
      2
    • When you became afflicted with a tradgic age related... affliction (sorry if this rubs it in)

    • You were born old

Looking back at all the stupid childish shit you did? Regrettable fashion statements?

It's always been that way, growing up and realizing you used to be an idiot is something that happens to most people eventually, and it's not mutually inclusive with the decade you grew up in.

Every new generation thinks they have it all figured out, that they're fuckin edgy and slick. Just wait for it, morons...

I was born in the 80's but mostly influenced by 90's pop culture. I do however love me 80's songs. Billy Joel, you my guy.

87 here, so same boat....  jnco-jeans-promo.webp

Remember these? I think they're still awesome but only as cut off shorts

I had those like in 5th grade. Only cool kids had those pants. I wish they would come back.

Item A: they're never coming back, JNCO went out of business

Item B: If you want a pair they're expensive AF now because collector's item...

Dam, That sucks. At least we have memories to look back to.

Good ol' memories. Happy ones protect you from stupid decisions, poor health and generally being a senseless dick.

born in the late 70's.

i'll feel old when i'm dying.

Same here, brother! I know I'm getting old because I've started to get Charlie horses in weird places while trying to do mundane household things.

I wasn't even alive yet for most of the 80's.

Same here, 90's kid actually. I said 80's because all the cocaine made people do exponentially more embarrassing & stupid things, which I felt emphasized my point better.

I don't feel old quite yet. Getting there though.

Also add to the fact that I didn't experience a single year of the 80s.

I went through three of them. I remember my Mom's huge hair and comically oversized glasses.

I was alive for most of the 80s.  Despite my teen years happening during the 90s I mostly hated the shit out of the trends from it.  I was absolutely an old man by that point.

So you don't have a decade you're nostalgically fond of? Salty, just like an old man.

I've told people things like "Christmas doesn't start until Santa shows up at the Thanksgiving Day Parade" and "I like to be able to see something before I buy it" because I am a 32 y/o 60 y/o.

That second thing is not unreasonable for all ages.

What made me feel / realize I'm old was when my younger cousins graduate high school / college.

One of my cousins just graduated high school. When he was 5 I was in my 20s. 😭

My siblings all have kids, and I was the eldest. They'll start going to school soon.

Reached for something in the passenger side of my car...injured a muscle in my rotator cuff.
