Zenigundam Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I'm supposed to come in on Monday at 10, but he said they're going to check my references over the weekend. I'm actually pretty damn scared because I think I listed two references at jobs that I quit and I don't think I'm eligible for rehire at any of my previous jobs. I hope he was just bluffing lol. Imagine how awkward that'll be if I come in on Monday and he tells me to go home. He might have to catch these hands! ::spin::
PenguinBoss Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Like you won't get fired or quit within two weeks, anyway.
Houdini Splicer Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 He might have to catch these hands! ::spin:: Sure, sure, and it would probably be similar to this...
Zenigundam Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 Employers do check the references you list They can't rescind this job offer. They need me....
lupin_bebop Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 They will check them. So you quit old jobs. Will it make you ineligible for this job? Not necessarily. Will they rescind the job offer? Possible, especially if you get a negative reference.
Distortedreasoning Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 i still don't know how you manage to get fired and rehired so much. eh, you'll be fine.
lily_cat Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Well that isn't good. I hope you didn't screw yourself over.
Misaka Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Well that isn't good. I hope you didn't screw yourself over. This is zeni we are talking about he will screw it up
mthor Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 They can't rescind this job offer. They need me.... They don't need you. They just need a warm body. There are a lot of those available.
1pooh4u Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Technically an old employer can't give a bad reference so maybe you'll be ok. I don't even get the reference stuff since they can't be completely honest.
André Toulon Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Technically an old employer can't give a bad reference so maybe you'll be ok. I don't even get the reference stuff since they can't be completely honest. I've heard that, but I also saw an old boss tell another employer that the girl that had applied was a thief and was always late. Granted, this wasn't in the corporate world, this is when I was woking at a little poboy shop in between a gas station and pawn shop and she was trying to get a job at the clinic.......Maybe it doesn't matter when it's coming from a drunk Cajun.

If the person the old boss was referring to ever found out, they could be sued for slander or libel or some such shit, which is something I don't understand if what's being said is true. http://www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/5-things-to-do-when-your-ex-boss-gives-a-bad-reference.html/?a=viewall I guess they can give a negative reference but it better be proven true
mthor Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I'm pretty sure that they can disclose whether or not they'd re-hire.
1pooh4u Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I'm pretty sure that they can disclose whether or not they'd re-hire. That disclosure isn't the same as saying, "Joe Blow was a thief and a goofball on the job", there could be many reasons a company won't re-hire and not all of them reflect badly on the applicant. That's not true in Zeni's case, he won't get re-hired cuz he's an irresponsible manchild >
