So I had one of those meal delivery kits shipped today

Well I was supposed to anyway

It was one I had used awhile back and got a promo code to reactivate my account, so I used it.

I forgot to change my address. So it went to my old apartment. Office was already closed for the day when I tried to call to see if it was there.

I wonder if it's just sitting outside because the building was locked. The tracking info says it was left at "front door" which could mean for the building itself in which case I could probably just go grab it. But I'd hate to waste an hour driving there and back to find out.

The Marvelous Misadventures of Minerva

I just hope the office isn't closed for the weekend because of the holiday. I'm going over to that side of town tomorrow anyway so I honestly might just swing by and see if the box is chilling outside the building. Just hope the food is still good if that's the case.

Would it be weird to buzz my old apartment and be like "hey do you have my food?" if it's not outside? I feel like that would be weird but I feel like the office would have called me if they got it because they should still have my info on file so the box is either outside or in the new tenant's apartment.

Blue Apron

I cycle between pretty much all of them depending on what promo codes I have and what meals look good from each one from week to week

I've thought about giving Blue Apron a try.. Probably only because of the aggressive marketing, but the ads make it sound like a pretty decent deal and a money saver..

We got hello fresh these last two weeks. I ordered 4 servings...after the promo they charged me $80...i said no thanks..cancelled and got a refund.

You got blue apron promos you can share? Hello fresh was kind of bland

Hello Fresh is alright. Blue Apron and Home Chef are my favorites though.

Looks like I do have 5 free boxes to send people. So I guess first 5 people to PM me their name and e-mail address can get 'em. That goes to anyone reading this.

I liked them when I used them in the past. More expensive than some of the other kits but also higher quality food and better variety in my experience.

It's like $60 a month right? I doubt I could be disciplined enough to make them last the amount of time they're supposed to anyway, but I usually average around $80-90 every time I stock up on groceries not including pet food and supplies so it would save me alot of money if I could..

More like $60 per week lol. $60 gets you a box with three different meals of two servings each. You can get 2/4 person boxes and I think you can get between 2-4 meals per week.

See, for $60 bucks I can get whatever I want....Not select from this week's entrees or whatever.  I mean I really want to try it just to see for myself how this is even a thing, because I don't understand how this is a thing....

But then you have to figure out what you want to make, go to the store, buy the ingredients, hope they have everything you need, possibly go to a specialty store for more "exotic" ingredients.

I just like the convenience. Other than EveryPlate all of the kits I've used have quite a bit of choices every week. I also try things I'd never think to try on my own with these kits. I'm also bad at meal planning and typically rotate through the same dozen or so meals anyway when I'm cooking without a meal kit.

Same.. but yeah I guess I forgot if it was monthly or not I thought about asking, but I don't really see myself doing it or it being a good deal unless you're just set on the fact you don't have to go shopping. Saving on the cost of groceries used to be one of their main pitches from what I remember, and that's what always made me curious. $60 a week isn't worth it at all though..

Well, so far no one who uses them has ever given me reason other than it saves you from making groceries....Which I don't really like, but it's not bad.  I do like going to the butcher though....I'm kinda like one of "those guys" that goes in and shoots the shit with his butcher and discusses the meat we've cooked recently....It's so lame, but I love it.

Athena kinda intrigues me with the 'they offer things she would never think of'....I get in a rut from time to time and start making the same dishes over and over, but then I just watch the food channel with my daughter and we find new shit to try.

BUt like I said, it's not something I can see myself continuously doing, but my curiosity is piqued.

Yeah their kits usually include some good variety, but I mean I could just look up their kits and buy the same fresh ingredients at my local market a lot cheaper if I just wanted food ideas.

Like I said, food channel works fine for me, but it's just morbid curiosity.

So I was able to get the box. It was sitting right inside the building thankfully someone let me in after I buzzed every apartment.

Should still be good to eat I think. The ice packs were mostly thawed out but still felt cold and were partially frozen, and the meat still felt cold to the touch.

I should tell Blue Apron I couldn't get the box wonder if they'd give me anything even though it's my fault I forgot to change my address.

Never dealt with them, so I don't know how good their customer service is, but if it you got it with a promo code, or other offer, they may not honor any complaints....Hey, do you still got a free box....I just saw that, I can send you my email and shit and I figure if I'm gonna pull the trigger anyway, I might as well try a free one.

The box is full of ice packs and was inside the building. I've had boxes sit outside in 80 degree weather all day that felt even warmer than this one did and had no problems eating it.

Dont stick too strictly to the instructions when it comes to seasoning stuff your normal way. I used the package seasoning thinking it was enough for some chicken and it came out very bland.

They gave me a credit last time I had them for a missing ingredient while I was using a promo code so it's worth a try I guess. Might be harder to get anything for something that was my fault though.

I still have 4 free boxes feel free to pm me if you want one.
