I'll bet Toonami gets mentioned at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and a Dragon Ball Super marathon is programmed for November 24th.

Doubt Toonami will get a mention. Anime may be somewhat mainstream (especially Dragon Ball), but Toonami is niche even among people in my age range (18-29), let alone middle aged people.  I expect the announcers to be genuinely confused as to what Dragon Ball Super is.

Just mention FighterZ.  Video game that handed Marvel vs Capcom its lunch money.

That being said, bring on confused as hell Al Roker!

You may be right, but at least now Toonami begins at 9 PM. That's a garbage timeslot, but strangely quite watchable. Yes, I know they're up against College Football Rivalry Week, but that isn't the Parade's key demographic. Only thing is, Super right now isn't in its best batch of episodes. A marathon of 14 episodes now would go back to post-Zamasu filler.

Once upon a time, Toonami used to be a "hit maker," introducing people to shows and either making them household names, or increasing the popularity of already somewhat popular series.  Now, anime is fairly well known, and heavily consumed across various streaming services.  I think we are long past the days I ask the guy in the Walmart electronics section where their Dragon Ball Z tapes are and he replies that he doesn't know what it is.  (But, you couldn't get uncut ones there anyway.  I went to Suncoast for those. :P)  I walked into a Walmart several weeks ago and there were TWO My Hero Academia posters, a Dragon Ball Super poster, Yuri on Ice poster, and one of that unholy Cyberdyne abomination Hatsune Miku.  But, there's still lots of people that watched the old Toonami, that don't know there's a new version back on air, or never heard of Toonami in the first place.  How the tables have turned.

A while back, one of my friends visited, and questioned why I still watched Toonami when it wasn't very good anymore and most of the shows sucked. :D Thankfully that seems to have righted itself.  He did ask me to change the channel when Hunter x Hunter was on, though. :D I told him it was by the same creator as Yu Yu Hakusho and he said that doesn't mean anything, and, well, he's right! :D Togashi was replaced by an evil alien clone a la Michael Jackson, I tells ya!

Whoop, I went on a bit of a tangent, there! :D

I can't believe Goku has never been in the parade before, nor any Japanese manga character.  Some Japanese videogame characters for sure.  Sonic and Pikachu were always fixtures.  Maybe some anime characters that didn't come from manga?  Not sure.

Japan isn't big on parades. That's Louisiana's job.  Now as for why he hasn't been in MACY'S Thanksgiving Day parade?  ... no idea.

Oh yeah for sure.  Anime probably wouldn't be where it is now without Toonami.  It was the gateway for a lot of people.  Toonami, you and your contributions to anime in the U.S. will not be forgotten!

That's what I mean.  And isn't Macy's barely in business now?

I worked at a Macy's. They will definitely be going the way of Sears in the next 5 years. Over priced 100 dollar shirts and non stop pissed off customers because there's never anyone on the floor to help them.

You think they'd learn from all the mistakes Sears made and start upping their game at some point.

Even if Macy's went out of business, it wouldn't surprise me if the name continued to be used to sponsor the parade.  It's so iconic at this point that it would almost be sacrilege not to use Macy's name with it.

That being said, even if they can't use Macy's name with the parade, someone else will just pick up naming rights to it.

I'm curious, do you get off on telling us about these depressing truths with only superficial relevance to the topic at hand?

OUR WORLD IS IN PERIL. GAIA, THE SPIRIT OF THE EARTH, CAN NO LONGER STAND THE TERRIBLE DESTRUCTION PLAGUING OUR PLANET.

the only reason I even celebrate Thanksgiving is to watch the parade, and so I have an excuse to eat Green Bean Casserole and Turkey

I can't condone what the Holiday is Celebrating (namely trying to put a happy spin on Genocide)

Canadians have a Thanksgiving too you know, and it’s not about the same events.

You’re all goddamn killjoys.

No no it's all about not starving to death because we tried socialism. That whole genocide thing took decades!

of course I probably shouldn't watch the Macy's parade since it's always sponsored by Chick-fil-A

although weirdly enough the Lesbian Season of Sailor Moon was also sponsored by jesus Chicken on Hulu xD

yeah imagine the commentators butchering goku's name and caling him Goo Coo

Believe it or not, they actually got his name RIGHT!

But when he first appeared on CBS, they said he was from "Dragon". They did eventually add the "Ball", and then later "Super: Broly", ALL pronounced correctly!

However, NBC only featured him for like 30 seconds, and they mispronounced "Funnymation" and "Super SI-yann"...or maybe "Super Cyan" is actually an official alternate name for "Super Saiyan Blue??"

And he DID have a bit of trouble in the wind, or maybe, just maybe, some mysterious figure in the audience was to blame?

HEY, POST #6666!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

All i have to say is, I saw this live and hooooly CRAP. this was FEAKIN amazing.

Goku is the BEST Cuper Cyan alive!  I mean cyan is a name for a type of blue, so maybe it fit with his hair color?

The balloons were all somewhat deflated a bit, not just Goku. THat's because heavy winds tend to rip through the material a bit. That's also why they were all flying a tad too low.
