I find it very hard to believe that he watches much anime to be honest. He seems like a guy who watched anime 20 years ago and remembers it fondly more than a current anime fan.

Toonamites should be testy over this one, at least the critically reviled BC is a generic shonen that fills the role of being a shonen. For PTE the only real comparison I can think of would be Super Milk Chan if Super Milk Chan was the same 15 minute episode played twice in a row with different voices.

We're in territory where airing School Days or Dragonball GT would be a legitimate upgrade in quality.

Remember that time where that one dude that lowered his score for Akame ga KILL! the more he thought about it burned Elfie so bad he quit the ASMB until it shut down and everyone moved here?

I found Moose the other day.  He was commenting on a youtube video about how One Piece deserves to be back on Toonami.

So basically, just what we all thought would become of him.

Moose is the sole reason I hope live action One Piece airs, even if it’s only for a single season and HBO makes Luffy have sex with everyone (although odds are good he wouldn’t think anything of it, essentially trading his asexuality for being able to hit anything that moves but incapable of understanding romance). Just his sheer epic meltdown would be something to behold.

there's a good handful of ways I see live action One Piece going

  1. they do like you said and make Luffy pansexual/polyamorous for the edge factor (since apparently pansexual orgies are fine but gay romance isn't)
  2. he remains asexual but they massively tone down the Okama characters....if those characters are even included...because their portrayal is homophobic/transphobic by US standards
  3. it's literally just One Piece but in live action and it turns out that doesn't translate well so it only runs for one season
  4. they just throw caution to the wind and we end up with a Pirates of the Caribbean rip-off tv series with One Piece Branding

Which one of these would piss Moose off the most?  It would stand to Option 1 would A LOT (#NotMyLuffy!) but so would Option 4.

I would have him be Luffy, just on HBO.  For the hilarity mostly.

The first episode has references to slightly more mainstream stuff, like your name. and Kemono Friends. I'm not sure if the viewing public who isn't into much anime will appreciate those.

Also, Hoshiiro Girldrop is an affectionate parody of pretty much every idol show that has ever existed, with a little bit of Hannah Montana mixed in. No, really! I wish the promo they did for the show had featured some kind of fake-out involving that show; I blame the lack of actual animation for it. Most of the material of the parody you see are in the next-episode previews, and they're just still frames, so it would've been difficult to make anything meaningful out of them.

They could do different jokes for the dub like they did with FLCL and Lupin Part 2.

So, just to have this on the record, I have a bad gut feeling that [adult swim] is going to completely gloss over this show when rating it and just slap a TV-MAL on every episode. I don't know how the SimulDub turned out, but I would assume it has at least moderate swearing ("shit", et al.) like Crunchyroll's version, which could warrant it.
