Just fucking died.

Nintendo says save data can't be recovered.

I was on chapter 10 of Xenoblade 2. Probably over 200 hours and the game just about to be finished.

I didn't fuck it up, though. I set it down to charge normally, then when I came back it was dead and wouldn't charge. That's all. I thought this was a battery issue. But apparently I can go fuck myself if I want to even know why it broke.

apparently you aren't the only person this has happened to

there've been a ton of reports that people's Switches are just dropping dead for no reason

and apparently Nintendo deliberately made save data unretrievable in the switch for "Copyright Protection" reasons

Nintendo is good at replacing things. Well in my experience with Ds's anyway. Sorry, dood.

Yeah. I'm just pissed they didn't have any backup systems so I likely lost a party that took over a week in hours to put together and was just about to finish it. I only lost the data because they gave no way to backup.

I'm getting buddy one for his birthday, but since the switch is kind of a ds/home console combo, are you sure it can't be recovered. I haven't looked into how one runs since we don't have one but how is the data stored. Internally, hd, or like the DS with micro SD. I have all of my DS content backed up on my computer since I'm unaware of any outside source. Just seems like a serious design flaw since all their other devices let you back up via your computer

Reminds me of when i fucked up my ps3. YEARS of play GONE.

My PS3 bricked while I was watching "The Kids are All Right". I lost all of my shit except for a couple outdated saves I had on a USB drive, and had to replay some of my old games to get my progress back.

You actually can. You just have to find Application Saved Data Management  and find the option to save it to your USB while it’s plugged in.

Exclusively internal, it seems. If the data is on an SD card and the console is factory reset, the SD card auto-formats. I don't think I had an SD card, though.

Apparently the only current backup method is to manually backup from one Switch to another, which is fucking stupid.

Oh, so like the OG fatboy DS's from like 2005

That's why your Switch died: Karma.

I mean, it died before I got KOS-MOS, which means I didn't lose a character excessively tedious to get. I tried for hours to get her and still never did, so I'm glad I'm not losing that.
