that said even if this show does get greenlit it's entirely possible it'll get cancelled before it ever reaches the Baroque Works Saga and introduction of Bon Clay so maybe the subject of gay people will just straight up never come up

and adding circa 1950's depictions of gay men as evil sissies who rape hetero men would kinda prevent any One piece live action remake from even being a thing so I wouldn't worry about a live action One piece being made in the first place, let alone it being 90% Titty porn like you seem to believe it will be

on the upside however....being exposed to non-japanese ideas might serve to broaden Oda's ideology concerning LGBT people, so maybe after he works on the most likely doomed American one piece adaption his gay characters in his own manga will become less horrible

You know it occurs to me that I'd be very interested in seeing how they handle Alvida assuming she's included in this. Purely for, ahem, research purposes of course. My first thought was get an actually obese actress and then have her lose weight and become a supermodel but that would be idiotic. CG or fat suit perhaps?
