he died back in september and everything has just been trying to keep everyone else sane since then....

It’s important to remember that yes family is important but you always need to come first. Be it physical health or mental. And realistically you can only account for yourself.

Sorry you lost him. Sounds like he helped keep everyone together

What have they been on your ass about?

well my next door neighbor(who has a second house here so he's not always here)is always on my ass about me and my mom selling crap and about what I'm gonna do for a job(which wouldn't be so hard if i didn't live in a rural crap hole where getting anywhere car or not takes what  feels like hours)

so usually if we ever need something we call one of our cousins around here and they'll bring it no questions asked because like i said getting anywhere in this area is a pain in the ass even if you have a vehicle

so I'm always getting chewed out or questioned by my neighbor at some point about what I'm gonna do and that since my dad didn't leave us million dollars that the money's gonna dry up eventually and i gotta bust my ass off now to prevent that from happening in the not too distant future

That's......why is your neighbor so personally invested?

Is he trying to push you out and get with your mom or something?

Tell him to back off

because for a period my dad was his accountant  since we were neighbors and got to know each other better over time...and he was getting ripped off by his former accountant plus money in his business vanishing without him batting an eye

so my dad started doing payrolls for his business since this guy himself sucked with numbers and wasn't too good at keeping track of who should get paid and what amount for what work

now he's basically forced to do all the numbers work himself and he's coming off as this dick who thinks without a million dollars we're gonna be in the poor house

That neighbor is someone who needs to fuck off. Tell him this next time.

he's the kind of person who can be a decent guy but he can also be a total dick depending on the situation

he's got family troubles of his own and is either always on some shrooms or drinking

so i have no idea what's with him most of the time

he's getting on your case for no reason.

seriously just talking shit to you at this point. he might be going through some bad times but thats no excuse.

i agree he's not really been a pain since he came down this week(he was kind of an ass on 12/1 though)so i haven't really mentioned it to him

regardless It's hard to keep myself from being stressed out all the time when i have someone who thinks I'm gonna be out on my ass soon unless i can get a job asap

So . . . you live in a rural area where everything is spread out, but have a next door neighbor close enough to bother you? Yeah, something doesn't add up.

I'm sorry about your father, but it's time to get a job.

I"m not sure why when people hear rural they think courage the cowardly dog "In the middle of nowhere"   there's two types of rural the kind where there's only one house for what seems like a thousand miles and you swear You're living in a post apocalyptic wasteland and the the kind where you do have neighbors(old farmers and fishermen though for the most part here)but actually getting to town and getting what you need is just as hard as if you were the only house for hours

and I've looked for jobs...just short of working at the walmart in the next town over there's not much to apply for around here

it not your ass, its the family's ass.  you just work there.  right?

if unofficial caretaker for a physically disabled person counted as work then yes i work there but as it stands no

having a mother with MS brings it's own set of problems the biggest of which being that this whole situation has put her into a depressing slump and i have to be the power of positivity

otherwise it all goes downhill

Because you make it seem that way? What's so hard about it besides a long commute time? If it bothers you that much, consider selling the house and moving to a small apartment in a suburb somewhere else with your mother. If the opportunities where you live truly are that bad you shouldn't stay there.
