The comics/books that the characters and plot are extremely loosely based on in my opinion is way better.

Also, about the amount of pages... Well I usually write sized 10 and single spaced, so that might affect overall page count. Word count for the complete works including unreleased stories and outlines for future work is currently somewhere near 63,000 at last estimate, if I remember correctly. *googles it* Ok, so it says 1 page is going to be about 500 words, so doing the math on that puts me at... Only 126 pages. Damn, thought it'd be longer. That's what she said.

I think i see both of your sides; wars were, generally speaking, small skirmishes between groups. Many of these groups were defined as states and countries, but still, small things, relatively speaking. Then in wwi, we applied industrialization to war; making large scale conflicts between world powers inevitable. After wwii, the world powers were like "jesus, maybe full out war was a bad idea." So after that, they started stockpiling weapons in a war without battles, an arms race. Then we realized, "fuck, we have a lot of goddamn weapons," and so the war industry went from simply stockpiling to actively usong their excesses in a near infinite amount of small skirmishes that will never end as long as cash goes in one end of the machine and bodies wrapped in flags come out the other.

Also, plot point to a story shouldnt be "someone was doing this because they were bored," even if theyre just faking it. You know who else was bored during that scene? The viewer.

Oh it bothered me all right. "What the fuck is this shit in my alien movie? Would that crazy scientist motherfucker just shut the fuck up already? Oh, finally, she killed it and the movie is over." Seriously, bad movie. And Prometheus would have been so much better if they hadnt brought the guy from Lost into it to just fuck the whole thing up. The second one was fucking great though.
