Well, if she was married, underage, a lesbian, or a total jerk in non-Trek related things, you probably made the right choice.

I'd be more worried about spiders. Not that I'm scared of them, it's just that sometimes they startle me, especially in the shower.

The Star Trek death that hit me was James Doohan - I saw him when I was in college (he used to speak about Trek, and he usually brought a blooper reel), and when my kids were still in school, he used to show up every year at the local highland festival.
