Oh, I'm so sorry - that really sucks. And I know - sometimes the family was worse than the patient. Does his ins cover respite care? Just something to think about when you get to the point where it's him or you. -

Put a stool in the shower and have him take a seat under the water. At least he'll get rinsed, and if he uses soap, it'll be a bonus. (seriously, a lot of old people are scared of falling in the shower or tub.) -

Gonna get medical genetic testing for the offspring
mthor replied to fuggstop's topic in Free-For-All
The rule of thumb is that if one of one's parents has it, one is 25% more likely than the average to get it. If both of one's parents have it, then one is 50% more likely to develop it. If one's identical twin develops it, then one is fucked, since the probability is 80% higher than that of the general population. -
Yes, it did. That was back when I was in high school, and, despite the thousands of patients that I've taken care of since then, I've never had anybody else with phantom itching.

When I worked in the nursing home, I had a guy ask me to scratch his foot. The catch? He was a bilateral amputee. So I had to scratch the air right about where his foot would have been. Not as odd as your encounter, but still, I've never seen anything in the literature about phantom itching.

Is there actually a test for it available? Most of what I can find in the literature is experimental. The genetic testing seems so far to be more accurate for determining med regimens once one has been diagnosed rather than providing the actual diagnosis, let alone diagnosing it in someone who's asymptomatic. -
How about spotted dick?

I'd rather see pictures of the Jersey Devil.

I thought it was a matter of instinct, not education.

Never thought I'd want to move to Boston, but...

It's kind of hard to take much more than an overnight bag on a Greyhound. -
If Tiger doesn't win, I'm going to work hammered tomorrow.

Are we talking minutes or hours? -
Yeah. One of my daughter works retail, and she sounds the same way.

Same here. I was raised Catholic. What's your excuse?

Blame Sexual Chocolate and Sexual Frustration.

Yay non-Christian based! Does science-based mean that you get to do a lot of stuff beyond reading and bookwork?

Well, it does speak to either extreme naivete , or confidence bordering on hubris.

See, this always makes me worry - you're fishing in shark-infested waters and using Madison as bait. Not fair.

On-site hotels and restaurants?

You ever eat something so nasty it makes you want a cigarette?
mthor replied to That_One_Guy's topic in Free-For-All
Sometimes air makes me want a cigarette. -
Quit complaining.
