Netflix is available in almost every country in the world. It makes complete sense for them to partner with studios in those countries in which they operate in order to create programming. It gives them an added bonus to be able to distribute them in other countries (as by partially owning it they don't have to pay multiple times to show it.) And with everyone and their dog starting up streaming services, Netflix is trying to get a grasp on more series that they don't have to worry about losing if suddenly everyone stops playing ball with them.
