Now I’m not denying there are problem with the pharmaceutical industry...but I cannot stress to you how little perscribers know about drugs. Doctors are doctors not druggists. They have 1 maybe 2 classes on drugs at best and they the go off and do other shit.
Ive had doctors knowingly prescribe something a patient was allergic to
ive had a 45 minute long discussion with a doctor as to what Crestor was when HE prescribed it.
ive had schedule II medication perscriptions come in with refills (which is against the law) and when I call them they legit don’t know.
and for the most part when you come in as a patient with symptoms they see every day it’s just easy for them to throw an antibiotic at you and walk away...anything more complicated than that they are guessing. They really don’t know what will make you better. That’s why there are so many different fucking formulations of the same shit.
what pisses me off the most is the finger that points to big pharma...because when it comes to laws, pharmacies abide. When we see abuse we report it. When someone is doctor shopping we report it. There are so few things we can actually do at pharmacy level. But if a prescription come in, and it’s legit, and enough time by law has passed from the previous script. There is nothing we can do. It comes down to the one who has the triplicate script pad, the DEA number, and the pen....and the lack of doctor accountability
